Over 30 #hkpolice today surrounded & arrested a #HKer when he tried to put a caricature of #Xijinping with #coronavirus head onto #lennonwall in #KwunTong #HK. Clearly, #hkpolice’s only duty is to carry out political censorship & save face for this authoritarian leader of #China.
2/ Jimmy Lai, most high-profile pro-democracy media tycoon, has been critical of #HKGov & #CCP leadership. He was invited by @VP Mike Pence & @SecPompeo to share #HK situation. As press freedom isn't allowed under authoritarian regime of #Xijinping, he becomes the prime target.
#Beijing loyalist Erick Tsang was promoted to be the minister on constitutional and mainland affairs. He was a big fan of #Xijinping by deliberately putting his picture in his office during interviews. twitter.com/demosisto/stat…
4. Evidently, the decision is one step closer to the implementation of “cooperation of powers” policy proposed by #Xijinping in 2008, emphasizing that judiciary and legislature are required to support the administrative branch.
4/ With the ill-defined law interpretation and a #secretpolice agency imposed in #HK, the law will harm all foreign interests and ex-pats in this global city. #Xijinping proposed in 2017 that China’s #nationalsecurity covers economic and social aspects.
4. Even now, teachers in China are reprimanded after students report them for questioning the governance of #Xijinping during lectures. nytimes.com/2019/11/01/wor…
