Today I paid a visit to the Taoyuan Airport to thank our frontline personnel for their tireless work in the fight against #COVID19. Airport testing & home quarantine are two of our most important lines of defense helping keep the people of #Taiwan safe.
Great to see you again, Mayor @ZdenekHrib. Let’s keep the bond between our two nations strong, & work towards a direct flight between our incredible capitals. #Taiwan will always consider you a dear friend & staunch ally.
Over the past weeks, our armed forces have been working on the front lines to prevent the spread of #coronavirus. From helping manufacture face masks to disinfecting ships & aircraft, our men & women in uniform are working around the clock to keep #Taiwan safe.
Food and wordplay are both big parts of #LunarNewYear here in #Taiwan. These traditional Lunar New Year’s blessings make puns on the names of delicious local produce. May all your endeavours in the Year of the Ox bear fruit!
After a year of many challenges, I want to thank everyone who has helped #Taiwan emerge from 2022 stronger & more resilient than before. Wishing you a Happy New Year and all the best in 2023!
An honour & a pleasure to welcome #TeamTaiwan's Olympic athletes, coaches & support staff to the Presidential Office today. Your incredible performances & perseverance have made our country proud & helped bring #Taiwan to the world.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day in Taiwan, we remembered the victims of this tragedy & reminded ourselves how important it is to confront authoritarianism, wherever it may be. #Taiwan stands with #Ukraine & our friends worldwide in the name of freedom & democracy.
#Taiwan is home to some of the world's finest tea. We welcome you to take in Taiwan’s tea culture, from tea leaf to tea cup. #TaiwanIsOpen
Proud to host #Taiwan’s outstanding military academy graduates at the Presidential Office. Given our rapidly changing world and increased PLA activities, I encouraged them to remain vigilant & confident as they protect our national territory & defend our sovereignty & democracy.
In the face of #COVID19, #Taiwan is fully committed to utilizing our medical & research strengths to develop both treatment & protection measures. I paid a visit to our National Health Research Institutes to learn more about this research process & thank our frontline personnel.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: #Taiwan will always be a champion of freedom & democracy in #Asia. Glad to see organizations like @CIVICUSalliance recognizing the importance of civic freedoms & the role governments should play in defending them. twitter.com/CIVICUSMonitor…
For the #Taiwan Lantern Festival, @KaohsiungCity lit up the sky with a drone display to thank our friends around the world who’ve stood by us during the pandemic. We are truly grateful to #Lithuania, #Slovakia, #Czechia, #Poland, #Japan & the #US for helping in our time of need.
Our 🇹🇼 National Day Celebration was capped off with a magnificent fireworks display in @KaohsiungCity last night. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this special occasion, & to all of you for joining us in support of #Taiwan.
On behalf of all #Taiwanese, I want to extend a warm welcome to Senator Dodd, Deputy Secretary Armitage, & Deputy Secretary Steinberg. We hope you enjoy your visit & look forward to working together to strengthen the #Taiwan🇹🇼-🇺🇸#US partnership.
As @nytimes, @WSJ & @washingtonpost face intensifying hostility in #China, I'd like to welcome you to be stationed in #Taiwan — a country that is a beacon of freedom & democracy. Yes! You'll find people here greeting you with open arms & lots of genuine smiles. JW
There's a long list of must-eats in #Taiwan, & one of my all-time favorites is Taiwanese #BaWan. They come in different styles, steamed & deep-fried, & everyone has their own preference, but no one can deny that #Changhua's are the best, w/ parsley & sweet chili sauce, of course.
People around the world, especially in #Taiwan, have seen the way the @WHO mislabeled & outright ignored enquiries about the country. There's been questions about its handling of the situation. In democratic societies, people should be able to express these opinions freely. 2/3
Each year, the anniversary of the 228 Incident reminds us of our responsibility to realize transitional justice. We will continue to release previously classified files & the results of our investigations, so that we can begin to heal the historical scars from #Taiwan’s past.
Congratulations to Lo Chia-Ling 羅嘉翎 on winning bronze in #taekwondo! #Taiwan is so happy to see you shine on the world stage! #TeamTaiwan twitter.com/Olympics/statu…
We in #Taiwan are committed to the values of democracy, freedom & human rights. No matter the situation, Taiwan will continue to stand in solidarity with our fellow democracies around the world & with all who share our hope for a more peaceful & inclusive world.

It was a privilege to be able to share Taiwan’s perspective on regional issues & acknowledge the flourishing #Taiwan-#Australia partnership with @ASPI_org. You can read my remarks to the Indo-Pacific Leaders Dialogue here:
As part of our comprehensive & collaborative fight against #COVID19, representatives from #Taiwan’s @SinicaFans & the #Czech Republic’s @Akademie_ved_CR came together to discuss prevention & rapid testing cooperation, & the pandemic’s psychological, social, & economic impacts.
Today we passed bipartisan legislation to help #Taiwan better prepare for the impact of #COVID19. Expediting the passage of this bill helps ensure the health & safety of our citizens & keep our economy stable.
