Before the elections, I said that #Taiwan would come together to defend our freedom & democracy. Over the past 6 months, #HongKong has shown us how precious that commitment is. I hope the people of Hong Kong take heart in the message our elections have sent to the world.
Grateful to have friends in the international community standing with #Taiwan to defend democracy & uphold regional security. Thank you @SpeakerPelosi & all the members of your delegation for coming to Taiwan & expressing your support. twitter.com/SpeakerPelosi/…

Today I got my first shot of #Taiwan’s own Medigen vaccine. Thank you to all our medical workers for making this such a smooth & painless process. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible—vaccines protect you & those around you from COVID-19.
From last year’s anti-extradition movement to recent national security law legislation, the deterioration of democracy in #HongKong concerns me & many in #Taiwan. At #CDS2020, I reaffirmed our resolve to stand in solidarity with #HKers who cherish freedom & #DefendDemocracy.
Freedom is not free. It is something we have to work for and defend every day. In #Taiwan we never take our hard-earned freedom for granted, & as we build, renew, & sustain democracy at home, we are supporting democracy in our region & around the world. #CDS2020 #DefendDemocracy

I regret that @WHO has once again excluded #Taiwan from international dialogue for political reasons. Politics should never override professionalism, & no amount of pressure will stop us from continuing to fight #COVID19 & contribute to global health. #TaiwanIsHelping
