View from Japan: One time, a nice clerk in a nice toy store in the US said to me, “I heard they sell toy guns to kids in Japan. That’s so violent!” or sth & I had to say, “Yes, they do, but what they DON’T do is sell REAL guns to adults, so which is more violent?” #guncontrol 1/3
You know why #Abe was easily shot? Because we Japanese including the bodyguards believe guns are controlled and there are no guns. What’s most important is the awareness that anything can happen. Control gives us the “feeling” of safety, but it only fools us. #guncontrol
When an elementary school massacre with a knife occurred here in Japan, 2001 - 8 dead, 15 injured, nobody talked about the ownership of knives in the country. We rather focused on the criminal, how everything happened & how we can prevent future crimes, but America?🤔 #guncontrol twitter.com/luarque/status…
Everything gets blamed, except GUNS. #guncontrol
