This is the concept art of Nightmare. The armor is a refinement of SC1's "unicorn" inspired design. His armor is decorated with a dragon, a symbol of evil, chaos and power.
The final image was clear from the beginning. So his design was finished on quickly.

Siegfried became the host of Soul Edge and had his body eroded. His right arm is designed to look like a dragon's claws, with a texture somewhere between a crustacean and an animal's horns.
The asymmetrical silhouette is actually a reference to the fiddler crab!
