When you compare the overall current best available science to their insufficient, hypothetical "climate targets" you clearly see that there’s a gap, there are decades missing.
Until we adress this gap, no real solutions will be found.
Let's call out the bullsh*t.

Yes, there are countless opportunities connected to taking real, bold climate action. But as long as we only treat it as “an opportunity” rather than the existential crisis it is we won’t get out of this mess.
We can’t solve a crisis without treating it like a crisis.

If believing that we can change our system and our way of thinking in order to safeguard future living conditions for life on earth as we know it is considered “naive”, then what do you call believing that “net zero” from these “climate leaders” will save us?

It's very hopeful to see how far and wide this text has spread! Imagine if we for once actually listened to what scientists say, rather than just repeat phrases like "listen to the science" while still primarily listening to companies and billionaires. Just imagine.

"The International Energy Agency reckons that about 70m tonnes of methane were leaked into the atmosphere in 2020, roughly equivalent to the annual energy-related CO2 emissions of the EU."
Natural gas? Call it what it is: Fossil gas.

"Scientists have identified a staggering 5.5 billion ton gap between greenhouse gas emissions acknowledged each year by the world’s nations and the emissions calculated by independent models"
Everywhere you look there are gaps and loopholes...

A friendly reminder: We can't solve the climate crisis without treating it like a crisis.
What does that mean?
It means we can't solve the climate crisis without treating it like a crisis. And to this day we never have. Not once. Not one single time. Ever.

So apparently California will continue to extract oil for another 2,5 decades... And yet this is somehow seen as “good news”.
The gap between the urgency needed and where the discussion is at is becoming more and more absurd.

Our so-called “role models”indeed have some work to do. Pretty hard to “solve” the climate crisis without addressing this elephant in the room... #MindTheGap #ClimateJustice

Yes, China is still categorized as a developing nation by WTO, they manufacture a lot of our products and so on.
But that's of course no excuse for ruining future and present living conditions. We can't solve the climate crisis unless China drastically changes course.

Many new emission reduction announcements have been presented lately. Here is a sobering reminder to put things in context...
We won’t be able to “solve” this crisis without facing the full picture. #MindTheGap #FaceTheClimateEmergency #NoMoreEmptySummits

The planetary boundaries have been defined. Decades of negotiations, science and diplomacy led to the ParisAgreement. The compromises have been made.

”Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”
Well, I don’t know about you but I don’t consider ”climate targets” putting us on track for 2,4°C and current policies indicating we’re headed for 2,9°C (excluding most tipping points, feedback-loops etc) to be ”good”.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but “according to the IEA, the total land area devoted to bioenergy production would need to increase by 25% to reach 410 million hectares in 2050, an area the size of India and Pakistan combined.”

Yes, we are all responsible for the climate- and biodiversity emergency. We - the 99,9% - have a responsibility to put pressure on the 0,1% in charge who refuse to stop the ongoing destruction of present and future living conditions for life on earth. #MindTheGap #BiodiversityDay
