In The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, the back of the Happy Mask Salesman's backpack is decorated with, among others, a Mario mask. Here is a comparison of the mask in the original Nintendo 64 version (left) and the 3DS remake (right).

Wario: Master of Disguise contains a debug menu. It offers a list of 756 entries, each opening a different room in the game. One of the entries, W59_09_01, loads up this room with an unused character. Nothing in the room responds to input and the game must be reset to proceed.

In Super Mario 64 DS, if Yoshi swallows a portable crate, he will produce a cubical egg. Running the game at a resolution higher than possible on original hardware allows us to see the egg in high definition.

In Super Mario Galaxy, Bob-ombs have legs of usual length for the series (left). However, looking closely at the model, we can see the legs are actually much longer, being partially retracted into the body (middle). On the right is the Bob-omb model with its legs fully extended.

Extremely high-resolution renders for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe reveal that while Toad's and Toadette's shoes look identical from a distance, they are actually made from different materials. The leather of Toad's shoes is covered in wrinkles, while Toadette's is bumpy.

In the title screen of Super Mario 64, it is possible to retract the facial features of Mario's floating head into his face rather than stretching them outward by utilizing the R and C buttons' functionalities. Here is Mario's head with all facial features fully retracted.

Super Mario RPG contains a debug menu called "UFUFU", accessible by modifying the game's code. The menu has three options, "MAGIC", "LASTER", and "BGLASTER". Selecting "LASTER" makes this Boo sprite appear, which changes between different distortions by pressing Left or Right.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the textures for Luigi's cap and his L emblem are stored separately, to prevent the L from being mirrored with the rest of the model when Luigi turns. Even with this precaution, one instance of the L flipping slipped past the developers.
