In the Japanese version of Luigi's Mansion, Luigi whistles when entering the final room, where Mario is held captive. This was removed in all other versions since it would be uncharacteristically nonchalant for Luigi to whistle while Mario is pleading for help in front of him.

In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, waiting for 300 seconds in the Bizarre Doors of Boo Mansion level will cause a set of horror movie-like handprints to suddenly appear on one of the walls.

If Tubba Blubba catches Mario while chasing him in Paper Mario, Mario is supposed to flee. However, using Bow's Outta Sight move will confuse Tubba Blubba, making him leave the battle. An even more obscure interaction is that rubbing Repel Gel on Mario achieves the same effect.

In Super Mario 64 DS, performing a Slide Kick on the Cool, Cool Mountain slide and falling off the edge will seemingly cause Mario to disappear, but actually warp him high into the air instead. Mario will float in mid-air in that pose until A is pressed, whereupon he will die.

In New Super Mario Bros., if Mario uses a Mega Mushroom in the Mega Goomba boss fight room and touches it in mid-air, the Goomba will stroll in from the right of the screen in mid-air as well. By touching it in different points in the room, the Goomba's elevation will change.
