In Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong's "minigame loss" animation is him stomping on his hat. In the Tanked Up Trouble level, it is possible to cause it to play while next to a ledge, resulting in Diddy throwing his hat into the abyss and jumping in after it, dying in the process.

In Donkey Kong Country 2, if Dixie lands on Rambi while performing a helicopter spin and B is pressed on the next frame while Y continues being held, the properties of the helicopter spin will be transferred onto Rambi, allowing him to float through the air.

When Bowser attacks Peach's Castle in the beginning of Super Mario Galaxy, the Toads start panicking. However, some Toads remain loaded outside the playable area who continue their cheerful festival animations. Note the sounds of destruction and screaming Toads in the background.

Donkey Kong 5: The Journey of Over Time and Space was an unauthorized 2001 clone of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe that replaced Small Mario with Diddy Kong and Super Mario with Donkey Kong. A rare 2003 reprint of the game featured a new title screen reading "SUPER MARRIO SUNSHINE".
