In the intro to Wario World, Wario is shown reacting to his castle collapsing while being very far away from the camera. In order for his facial expression to still be visible despite the distance, his facial features are enlarged for this scene.

After a prolonged period without major game appearances, the Koopalings were redesigned for their return in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. While this changed mostly body proportions and hair, Larry Koopa is notably the only Koopaling who lost teeth in the redesign, going from 4 to 2.

Due to the resemblance of the word "sumario" (Spanish for "summary") to the phrase "Super Mario", the Chilean Club Nintendo magazine sometimes styled the word "sumario" in its table of contents after logos of various Super Mario games.

In rooms with horizontally sliding blocks in Super Mario World, a glitch gives Mario's Cape Spin a special power. Performing a Cape Spin while getting an item from the reserve box will give an "area effect" to the spin, killing enemies that are further away from Mario.

During the launch of Donkey Kong Country Returns in Europe in 2010, select video game stores in the United Kingdom ran a promotion where 20 visitors per store could get the game for free in exchange for a bunch of bananas. Below is an excerpt from the news coverage at the time.

In Super Mario 64, if Mario reads a sign on a slope from the side, he will slide in front of it while retaining his elevation. This can cause him to float in mid-air. The second part of the footage repeats the animation, slowed down; note Mario's shadow showing he is floating.

Front and back cover illustrations from a Japanese guide for Super Mario World, featuring original designs for Princess Peach's outfit and Yoshi. Note that Yoshi is missing a shoe in the second image; this is due to him losing the shoe during the events illustrated in the book.

Addendum: I apologize for any ambiguity due to the phrasing in the post; the "camera plane" is simply another way to say "the screen". Below are illustrations of what it means for Mario to move parallel or perpendicular to it.

In Yoshi's Island, Dark Blue Yoshi is playable in all final levels of a world except 6-8. He can actually also be seen waiting at 6-8 initially, but is surreptitiously replaced by Green Yoshi when the player reaches World 6-6, and never returns on that save file.

According to Retro Studios 3D artist Eric Kozlowsky, this steam ship was one of the first assets to be created for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Although the ship is not used in the finished game, a few wrecked pieces of it can be found in the background of Level 1-4.

In the Flipside Outskirts in Super Paper Mario, there is a doorway where positioning Mario in a precise location (left) and switching to 2D results in Mario merging with the wall. Switching to Peach or Bowser retains the effect; however, switching to Luigi ends it immediately.

In Tetris Attack, the cutscene of meeting Bowser plays an uncharacteristically lengthy and imposing piece of music called "The Place Where Evil Sleeps". This is actually the original Panel de Pon's final boss theme, downgraded to playing only in this short cutscene.

Due to NES sprite limits, under certain specific circumstances the whites of Mario's eyes will turn black for a few frames in Super Mario Bros. 2. One way to achieve this is to let a Birdo's egg pass Mario (only in small form) and hit the wall behind him in Level 2-1.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the Swooper battles in the Creepy Steeple include a ceiling on the stage. Performing a Spring Jump during these battles will reveal an Easter egg where Mario's attack will fail due to ramming into the ceiling (right).

The snowmen seen in the Snow theme of the NSMBU style of Super Mario Maker 2 (top left) are a reference to those seen in Level 3-1 of New Super Luigi U, with the Luigi snowman being hidden and only visible when the course is finished with a time ending with two identical digits.

During his award animation in Mario Power Tennis, Yoshi accidentally eats Luigi. This is only shown from the side. Here is what Yoshi looks like from the front one frame after eating Luigi.

In a 2009 Iwata Asks interview, Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata discuss that if the Donkey Kong arcade cabinet's specifications had not included an originally unused extra button, there is a possibility that Mario would never have received the ability to jump.

A bulletin released in 1981 by Nintendo regarding a strategy used by high-level Donkey Kong arcade players, who would wait on ladders for barrels to pass. The bulletin introduces a new part that would make barrels come down ladders, eliminating this strategy to increase revenue.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, if glitches are used to have a follower character with Mario when Flavio asks him to go see Cortez, then after Flavio announces that he will lead and protect his crew, he vanishes into thin air. The game then continues without him.
