#Day28 my op-ed @zeitonline - 'it would be a horrendous signal to the world if Hong Kong surrendered jurisdiction over the case and directly had @andy_is_missing and others detained and tried in China.' #Save12HKyouths twitter.com/zeitonline/sta…

3. All I wish this year is another birthday meal with my family next year, the safe return of the #12hkyouths, and the release of thousands of freedom-seeking #Hkers now detained in prison. #save12

2. Throughout my six years in college since the #UmbrellaMovement in 2014, I have been suspended from my studies because I was sentenced to imprisonment. I have also tried taking examinations in prison. Now that I have finally graduated, my wish has been fulfilled.

【全球聯署:要求中國政府送返12名被捕港人】 我們促請中國當局立即讓家屬委託的律師面見12位被拘留港人,提供合適藥物予有需要的被拘留者,並准許被拘留者致電聯絡家屬。 bit.ly/save12youthspe…

Thx @trudyrubin. "Whatever their future, determination of HK’s citizens to fight for rule of law should inspire Americans to defend their own rule of law against WH challenges. If Wong retains his optimism, democrats in US have no excuse to cave." theindependent.com/opinion/column…

6. I haven't got any clue my whereabouts three months later, but rest assured that our determination will become a strong message to the world that Hong Kong people shall never surrender despite the National Security Law.

4.4/ No matter how gloomy our future might be, I still hold strong confidence in Hongkongers. Therefore, I call upon the world to take actions to safeguard the city's freedoms from tyranny.

Not sure why Regina Ip blames me alone for saying the obvious: cops in #HongKong do not follow rules 🤷‍♂️ This is well-documented by the media. Also, polls consistently show >80% support for an independent investigation into police conduct, 1 of the 5 demands. Does she support too? twitter.com/WilliamYang120…

"Joshua Wong is a HK student activist and politician. He served as secretary-general of Demosisto until it disbanded following the implementation of the CCP’s NMSL national security law on June 2020." Drawing based on a photo taken by @little.a.little bit.ly/2VGfOuP

6/ On Fri’s meeting, I call upon the #EU foreign ministers to have a firmer stance on the issue & to urge China to halt #nationalsecuritylegislation. I urge the #EU to impose all necessary sanctions if China insists on breaking an UN-filed treaty & finally passes this evil bill.

2. Utterly unacceptable that he has been detained for weeks, although those phones don't even belong to him. His bid for bail was repeatedly denied. Before his arrest, he was reportedly harassed by cops after refusing service to #HKpolice to show support against #policebrutality.
1288
2/ “I still have a role to play here,” he told EFE in a telephone interview, stressing the importance of getting the most votes in September elections in the city. Wong intends to stand as a candidate in the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.
1289
7/ With the popular mandate obtained in this primary, I will continue to bring Hongkongers’ voices to the world and oppose the regime’s crackdowns on civil society. It may be the last free election for Hongkongers, but it marks our real struggle for freedoms in the city.

黃偉然 Wong, 29 He even reduced contacts with two of his favourite cats. Probably, he was paving the way for the departure with his family who may be more accustomed to living a life without Wong.

3. Six of them surrounded my friends and me and continuously provoked me with verbal abuse. That is the common tactic that they use to arouse targets' anger, smear them with everything filmed and cherrypicked, and justify their arrests.
1292
3. Legal Aid Dept is heavily blasted for its tightening scrutiny on legal aid applications, esp for cases related to gov misconducts. But it is the first time for the dept to make such an irresponsible judgment before trials. Plaintiff doesn't even know the date of hearing yet.

The @CECCgov co-chairman, again, is spot-on here. I understand @SecPompeo's decision may cause anxieties among some in Hong Kong and the U.S., but it's ultimately the most sensible move when it comes to safeguarding our autonomy, in light of the difficult circumstances. twitter.com/SenRubioPress/…

3. You may wonder what #HKers can still do under draconian #nationalsecuritylaw, arbitrary arrests, unchecked police violence that even targets pregnant women, and also the detentions of 12 asylum seekers in #China, with their fate still unknown for nearly 2 weeks.

[The protest movement in HK is now undergoing a phase of transformation.] patreon.com/posts/43858016 Although some pessimists may call it a ‘bottleneck', we are still finding novel ideas and ways to continue the momentum.

5. Not to mention that dissidents in exile, #Hongkongers or even #Taiwanese overseas might be covered by the secret deal & extradited to #China’s courts. In fact, #hkpolice has already used the new law to arrest dissidents in exile and also a US citizen. edition.cnn.com/2020/08/01/chi…

5/ We have the right to remember what happened 31 years ago, and if we gave it up, we will forfeit the right to remember what happened throughout the course of the last 12 months in Hong Kong.
1298
Among many differences in ideals and tactics between us, Tony, a 19 year-old student has been through similar state-driven harassment & attacks as I had. Magistrate's decision at peculiar timing is seen as a prologue to more brutal crackdown on activists refusing to surrender.
1299
3. Twenty-four hours after Beijing’s directive of “new struggles” was leaked, CCP mouthpieces blasted the city's chief justice, #GeoffreyMa, for just reiterating the principle of judicial impartiality and refusing judicial reforms in the city.

2/ More ridiculously, when 2 million #HKers, one-fourth of city population demonstrated for democracy, #hkpolice called them “mobs.” When over 80% of citizens criticized police for escalating forces in a poll, #HKPolice called them as "extorted their demands from the government.”
