I remember asking stunt coordinator extraordinaire Brad Allan (who was part of Team JC) who he thought the next Jackie Chan was and he just said: ‘There isn’t one’. twitter.com/NickdeSemlyen/…

Many award shows (the recent BAFTAs too) just feel like they can barely be bothered to talk about the films of the year or the past and treat the honourees as adjacent to a variety show of celebrity links & sketches. If this makes me a hopeless nostalgic, so be it. Rant over. 3/3

RIP to a genuine megawatt movie star, Mr Jimmy Caan, star of not just The Godfather, but also Thief, Misery, Freebie And The Bean, Slither, Rollerball, Bottle Rocket, Gardens Of Stone, The Way Of The Gun, Honeymoon In Vegas, Elf & many more. Enjoy this deadpan classic. "Ta da."

Jean-Paul Belmondo has passed away and cinema will never be quite as cool again.

Farewell to Fred Ward who gifted us with so many rugged, funny and relatable characters throughout his career and always had charm to burn. Loved him in ‘Tremors’, ‘Miami Blues’, ‘The Right Stuff’, ‘The Player’, ‘Southern Comfort’ and more. RIP and thanks for all the movies x

Next year there should be a new Academy Awards ruling for Best Song. If the song that wins is not superior to Queen's 'Princes Of The Universe' from 1986's Highlander, then the Oscar is thereby given to 'Princes Of The Universe' from 1986's Highlander.

Dreams really do come true... #LastNightInSoho

I'm incredibly honoured that #LastNightInSoho has been chosen to have its World Premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival. It's very exciting for me show a film of mine in Venice for the first time... and bring Soho to the Lido. #Venezia78 #BiennaleCinema2021 #BiennaleCinema

Just back from a matinee in London of Ti West's 'X'. Any self respecting horror fan needs to run to see it this weekend. Such a fiendishly entertaining spin on a slasher film; funny, shocking, transgressive, a total blast. The cast are all great, but Mia Goth is unreal. Go see.

Overwhelmed that @BAFTA awarded us Hottest Couple. (Photo: @davidbenett. Arm candy: @simonpegg)

Even if you didn’t see ‘X’, you must see ‘PEARL’, the 2nd great Ti West/Mia Goth film of 2022, on the big screen this weekend. A crimson red slice of Sirk with Goth giving one of the best performances in horror ever & a hilarious/terrifying closing shot for the ages. Don’t miss.

Ah yes, some top comedies on Amazon Prime. I need a laugh!

I would not have conceived Last Night In Soho without this man’s writing, so this beautiful comment has made my year. And to get repeat business too? I am truly humbled. twitter.com/StephenKing/st…

Tried to watch a film for every day of the year and came up short by 35. But, I was doing press pretty much non-stop for two of my own, so forgive me. Anyway, here's 330 films I did see in 2021. (NB: *Denotes first time watch / Bold & Underlined denotes seen at cinema) 1/2

RIP legendary coolcat Mike Nesmith, much more than the Monkee with the hat. He was a brilliant songwriter, solo artist, video visionary, inventor of MTV, producer of REPO MAN & more besides! Here's CIRCLE SKY, a belter of a Nesmith number from cult classic HEAD. Farewell genius.

Every time there's a new PM take a shot.

Though the late Bob Rafelson had huge hits with later Jack Nicholson films, Easy Rider & Five Easy Pieces to name two, I’ll always love him first for co-creating The Monkees & directing their insane, wonderful film ‘Head’. I and many others have lovingly ripped it off. RIP Bob x

Tomorrow sees the release of 'Halloween Ends', but do you want to watch my video of Jamie Foxx dancing in the Michael Myers mask again right now? Of course you do x

I would like to point out that the spire in ‘Hot Fuzz’ was St Cuthbert’s Church in Wells Somerset and not the nearby St Thomas’s Church. That’s not to say it was all Storm Eunice and not the work of the NWA however… twitter.com/djstay81/statu…

Really loved PTA's 'Licorice Pizza'. For me it takes all of the exacting details & idiosyncrasies he does so well, but adds a hugely charming element of less experienced, but brilliant leads, who feel they are discovering how life works as the very film unfolds. A magic hour gem.
