Never forget that members of the current Cabinet & various well-known right-wing British journalists knew *exactly* what Trump was, even as they praised & defended him. The abuse they directed at those of us who understood & explained Trump’s depravity was dangerous & deliberate. twitter.com/DeanObeidallah…

Truss’s ‘reputation’ & her standing among party members rested entirely on her willingness to trumpet paper thin ‘deals’ & EU rollovers as glorious Brexity triumphs. The outbreak of reality has come very early in her premiership & will almost certainly persist for its duration.

Remarkable that the disappearance of any US trade deal over the horizon is both relief *and* disaster. Relief because Brexity clowns would have signed us up to any old toot while claiming a victory. Disaster because the hole they've blown in our international trade remains huge.

An amazing afternoon with the first cohort of graduates from the Andy Taylor Foundation, a charity set up to fulfill my late friend’s desire to help young people from working class backgrounds in the Northwest get in to the media. They are doing him so proud. Quite emotional tbh.

All sorts of Brexity/'think tank'/Spectatorish twonks are quote tweeting half-baked critiques of this. Quite rare for my clips. I wonder what they're all so worried about... twitter.com/LBC/status/157…

To be fair to this pillock I think he genuinely fails to understand my simple point, as opposed to pretending not to. Pretty sure he's the one who edited CityAM back when it shilled for Brexit. Not hard to see why that gig isn't in his bio. Not surprising to see than no jobs are. twitter.com/ChristianJMay/…

Jacob Rees-Mogg is accusing other people of being Luddites. Satire is dead.

Very tidy. Pinpoints precisely how Truss is gambling that tax cuts will somehow restore growth wiped out by the Brexit she can never mention. twitter.com/TheNewsAgents/…

All those utterly appalling post-Brexit peerages - Frost, Hannan, Goldsmith, Fox, Lebedev, Moylan, Stuart, Botham, Hoey, Cruddas etc - make this idea much more appealing. Another Johnson own goal. Ideally, it would be abolished just as Paul Dacre rocks up for his investiture. twitter.com/jessicaelgot/s…
