We’ve always been saying that countering CCP’s global aggression is not racist. They love to conflate the concepts of “country,” “regime,” and “people” to justify their suppression and avoid criticism. Don't be fooled by them. #StandwithHongKong

China has been threatening the global order and the liberal values that we all share. Your freedom is at risk. Supporting Hong Kong means supporting the global fight to preserve our universal values. #StandWithHongKong twitter.com/CBSNews/status…

The world should act now. //As Beijing once again breaks its promise of autonomy in the Joint Declaration .... The UK government and its allies should impose sanctions on those responsible for the city’s political backsliding. // @theipaper @ipaperviews inews.co.uk/opinion/nathan…

We should be reminded that many political activists cannot spend time with their families on Mother’s Day. Some of them are behind bars, some are in exile. I hope reunions can come as soon as possible. (This is an old photo of me and my mother) #MothersDay

My thoughts on the shift of EU's attitude towards China. Change is happening and our values would lead us the way. #HongKong #BBCHardtalk

7. Often people living in democratic societies take freedom for granted. While in the other part of the world, protestors have to face life-long imprisonment for the most fundamental rights to protest and vote. We all stand together, and to support the pursuit of democracy. -END

The vice chancellor of CUHK, one of the best research uni in #HongKong and Asia, was teargassed when the police betrayed the truce reached mins ago. It’s a blantant attack on academic freedom and intellectuals. Global, US academia should condemn it and protect your fellows in HK.

Nathan: The future looks like very grim or bleak. But I think the situation is always very dynamic. Beijing is always suffering from numerous pressure, no matter domestically or internationally. I don't feel like we are entirely hopeless now. pbs.org/newshour/show/…

Comments on the June 4th vigil case which @joshuawongcf and others are jailed: “Hong Kong courts are compromised. It’s unimaginable that the democratic campaigners who merely exercised their rights to protest and assembly peacefully would be sentenced to jail for up to a year.

[After activists’ arrests, #CCP now targets religious groups] 1 #Breaking: Following its crackdown on political figures, #Beijing now turns its eyes to churches. #HKpolice reportedly even raided 3 hostels for the homeless today run by Good Neighbour North District Church today.

I believe the young should have ideals. To be able to imagine a better home, and one that is more reflective of our own values and those of today and not the past, is an important freedom of youth. As students we don’t yet have many of the responsibilities of later life, ...

The police had raid into the entry platform of the #PolyU with endless shots of tear gas and other weapons. Numerous protestors were arrested while a group of them still trying to block the police from getting into the upper floor of the campus. We need to save them. #HongKong

My friend, who has lived in London for decades, told me that this year's June 4 vigil is the largest one. Hundreds of people gathered and lit a candle. I said, the number will only grow. Hongkongers will persist, until the day CCP is held accountable. #London #8964

I was again named by the HK govt top officials, including SS Chris Tang and Commissioner of Police, that my remark in #SummitForDemocracy violates the NSL and now am a “Class A wanted criminal.” Campaigning for human rights is “secession” and “subversion” by Beijing’s definition.

Not sure why the EU is promoting Regina Ip, a Xinjiang genocide denier where numerous sexual abuses and rapes happened on Uyghur women, for championing gender equality. A CCP endorsor who helps suppress civil society and liberal values can never be a force of supporting equality.

When protestors reacted to the military terror by force, some criticize violence, showing "neurality." They said nothing when the first protestor was beaten. Said nothing when the first died in the arms of his brothers. Said nothing when the military fired and killed people.

I appreciated @senatemajldr today for helping to pass the #HKHRDA, which the President signed into law before Thanksgiving. He told me he doesn’t think Xi knows how to handle all the unrest against him. I hope he can give the UIGHUR Act priority to show even more support. Thanks!
