12 pro-democracy legislative council candidates are disqualified TODAY. MORE to come tmr. Most of the candidates from the camp are expected to be barred. The govt is constructing a CCP assembly in Legco to eliminate most of the opposition voice. Outrageous. #HONGKONG

Watch how the Hong Kong police treated this frightened girl who was only walking on a shopping street. #FreeHongKong #StandWithHongKong

Everyone should be created equal, and people are entitled to fight against injustice. We #StandWithThailand, because we believe democracy is for all, and we should live in a society that respects everyone. Be Water, my friend. Stay safe.

Credible sources revealed that the Myanmar military government is receiving “technical support” from the CCP to build similar internet firewalls to block access to Twitter, NYT, FB etc. The internet cutoff serves this need. Dictators help each other and CCP is leading the way.

The white vans of the police ran INTO the protesting crowd and caused a stampeding accident which led to numerous injuries. That was not a dispersing strategy: that’s purely vengeful assault. #HongKong #PoliceBruality

White terror, politics of fear dispersed in Hong Kong under National Security Law. This is the first case that an individual is arrested on the doorstep under #NSL. It targets activists and quashes freedom of expression of HK people. Please be aware of it. twitter.com/wang_maya/stat…

The latest update of my dearest friend @joshuawongcf: being treated as the most serious felon, escorted with shackles and chains. He was sentenced 13.5 months last month due to joining a peaceful assembly, and now facing NSL prosecution, which can lead to life-long imprisonment.

PewDiePie is now banned in China. This is his comment on China: "China’s just like the one person on twitter that can’t take any criticism and just blocks everyone" And he nails it.

1. THREAD: Today, August 12, marks the single most violent day in more than two months of the Hong Kong protests as we see the police all across town acting completely out of their control. Below is a list of what happened — again, all within a SINGLE DAY.

White-collar professionals were escaping the tear gas attack by the barbarian riot police. Most of them were out for lunch. Would an accountable government allow such a mess that happened at their financial city center? Even city’s elites are no longer safe. #HongKong

Terrible police violence once again, and none of these Hong Kong police officers will undergo any forms of investigation. The autocracy feeds them. We need justice to be done. #FreeHK #StandWithHongKong twitter.com/Chuuu100/statu…

The high density of tear gas has become bioweapon and severely harming the frontline protestors and reporters. twitter.com/hkfp/status/11…

Students from the elite school Tsinghua University protested with Friedmann equation. I have no idea what this equation means, but it does not matter. It's the pronunciation: it's similar to "free的man" (free man)—a spectacular and creative way to express, with intelligence.

.@chowtingagnes is being brought to the police station now. It’s a devastating move from the Chinese govt that they want to silence the voice of resistance in Hong Kong. I urge the world to keep an eye on what’s happening. #NSL

The democratically elected legislative council member Roy Kwong was arrested during his on-site supervision tonight. He was pushed, charged by numerous polices, hit by baton and pepper sprayed. Solid proof of excessive police violence, esp. towards people’s representation.

BREAKING: HK activists & politicians are arrested under "subversion" due to their participation in pro-democracy camp's primary election. When one of the most critical Senate races is ongoing in the US, in HK, participation in elections could lead to life-long imprisonment.

It is utterly painful to watch how a WHO official shunned the question regarding Taiwan’s membership and performance. They neglect a staunch alliance base on purely political arrogance. Why don't they call themselves Chinese Health Organization CHO? Such a shame. Clip: Pulse@RTHK

In response to Hong Kong's political crackdown, I urge the European Parliament to halt the EU-China investment deal and EU to sanction China&HK officials who are responsible to the arrests. #Retweet if you agree MEP should VETO the bill and EU should act. #StandwithHongKong

So students are arrested because of a SOCIAL MEDIA POST. Bloody hell. How vulnerable a country is to be afraid of a post by a group of teenagers. twitter.com/pakwayne/statu…
