By unloading the spring model from Spring Mario in Super Mario Galaxy, we can see how his body deforms under the spring. Note that his hands are removed from his model while wearing the spring, as they take up too much space and would interfere with the animations.

The original concept for Glydon in Super Mario Odyssey (left) was to be a unique member of the Waddlewing species from New Super Mario Bros. U (middle) with a fear of heights. The reference was decided against and Glydon is an original species in the finished game (right).

In Super Mario Bros. 3/Super Mario All-Stars, the sides of Frog Mario's hitbox allow him to stand on Donut Blocks without causing them to fall. Here, the Donut Block directly under Frog Mario falls, but he hangs on to the next one, allowing him to sit in mid-air indefinitely.

The credits for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door show a photo montage of the adventure. 49 out of the 50 photos are always the same. However, the photo of Ms. Mowz kissing Mario will show Goombella or Koops depending on who was active during that cutscene in that playthrough.

Cartridge artwork for the Brazilian version of Mario Bros. for the Atari 2600. Since the game's low-resolution sprites made Mario and Luigi's mustaches resemble mouths, it is possible the artist interpreted them as such and drew the brothers as children.

Inspired by this post, reader @tomato_modest attempted to beat the known legitimate world record and was able to do so, with the new record being 15 doors! Congratulations!

In July 2018, Nintendo of Japan announced a line of licensed travel merchandise using this print pattern, containing original drawings. Some text uses Japanese names, such as "Magnum Killer Airlines" (topmost row, left of middle), that being the Japanese name for Banzai Bill.

In Luigi's Mansion, the portrait ghost Neville is seen reading a book (top left). While too blurry to say for certain, the texture for the book (bottom left) seems to depict Mario's head and the words "Mario Story". This could be a reference to the Japanese name for Paper Mario.

In Super Mario 64, standing between the left and middle Cool, Cool Mountain paintings in Peach's Castle and using first-person view to look through the wall reveals a big red F floating in the darkness. This is actually the entrance to Bowser in the Dark World seen from below.

Each overworld enemy in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has a unique battle ID. If the ID is changed to be invalid, the game does not crash; interactions with the enemy then simply don't start a battle and instead generate a harmless colorful shower of star particles.

@DDSeudonym If you mean this one, then yes! This comes from a 1996 manga. It is presented without context even within the work; Luigi only appears like this on the cover and not within the story itself. Thank you very much for your inquiry!

At release, the Nintendo Switch version of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze contained a rare glitch where beating level 3-3 would not open level 3-4. Note there is no path to access 3-4 (circled). The game would simply end at that point, as there would be no way to continue.

1080° Avalanche for the GameCube contains an unlockable snowboard called "8-bit Soul", depicting a sprite of Mario. Ironically, the sprite is not actually 8-bit; instead, it is from the 16-bit remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 in Super Mario All-Stars.
