In the mirror room in Super Mario 64, Mario's reflection never actually disappears when Mario jumps into the Snowman's Land entrance; it is instead left standing on the ground as he leaves, which is hidden by the default camera angle. Details in image.

A limited first edition of the cartridge case for the British version of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (known as Luigi's Mansion 2 in Europe) has a cover that glows in the dark (left: normal lighting, right: in darkness).

Using the frame-by-frame function of the Camera Mode in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we can see that whenever Dr. Mario throws a Megavitamin, it is always red on the first frame after it spawns (top right), before changing into its intended coloration on the next frame.

In Super Paper Mario, it is possible for Mario to become trapped in a claustrophobic situation, squished by the ceiling in a room barely larger than himself and unable to use the door to get out. Details in image.

In Super Mario 64, the Piranha Plants found in Whomp's Fortress are normally seen sleeping with their mouths fully closed (left). However, there is an unused animation in the game's data that shows them sleeping with teeth visible (right), making them appear to have an overbite.

Unlike all previous Mario platformers, Super Mario Odyssey was rated E10+ instead of E by the ESRB. The official write-up mentions the Cookatiel boss battle, during which the boss spits out pink soup (top right); meaning this may have contributed to the higher rating.

If you wait long enough on the title screen for the SNES version of Yoshi's Cookie, Yoshi will transform into a cookie in an extremely quick animation lasting only 5 frames. Here are all frames of that animation.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Cortez uses two different models for facing left and facing right. While during gameplay, the model simply appears to rotate, changing the view reveals that right-facing Cortez is mirrored, recolored, and has no Jolly Roger on his hat.

A Japanese print ad for Super Mario Bros. 3 shows an obscured pre-release screenshot of a sky level that has a gradient effect on top of the screen, absent from the finished game (left). I have attempted to recreate the gradient inside a level from the release version (right).

In the SNES version of Mario is Missing, an animation for defeating a Koopa Troopa shows it being squished, then flying upwards. Although the sprite appears to be scaled dynamically by a graphical effect, the deformed frames are pre-made and exist in the code in this form.

The data of Mario Party contains two entirely functional, but ultimately unused gameplay modes: one for playing only the board game portion of the game without the minigames, and one for playing just the minigames without the board game. Details below.

Regarding recently unearthed Mario information: I plan to cover it as soon as the flow of new reveals slows down and I have time to extensively analyze and verify the material myself. Until then, I will be posting regular content. Thank you very much for your understanding.

The distance gauge in the Plane Game in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is not designed to display a distance of over 1000 yards; glitching Mario past that point will display a new HUD graphic for each 100 yards. Shortly after "Diario", the gauge crashes.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, if a Dark Lakitu is tattled, Goombella will talk about it "throwing pipes" even though it never does so. It actually throws Spiny Eggs, which are called パイポ ("Paipo") in Japanese; the translator mistook this for the English word "pipe".
