Using glitches to go out of bounds in the Seaside Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey reveals an endless ocean. Instead of the level's water taking up a finite area, the game generates an infinite expanse of water in all directions, which can be traversed forever.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, performing a High Jump on top of Mini-Mario and having Mario hit Luigi in mid-jump normally earns a coin. However, in the Fawful boss room in Bowser's Castle, it instantly annihilates Mario and Luigi instead, requiring the game to be reset.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario can clip through a corner in the Blooper race track in Ricco Harbor, whereupon it is revealed that the track is floating in space, like the secret courses. Once out of bounds, Mario can run around in space, but can never return to the track.

In the Japanese/North American version of Super Mario Bros., Mario is safe at the beginning of World 8-2, as the Koopa Paratroopa that spawns on that screen bounces over him if he doesn't move. In the European version, it was deliberately moved one tile over to kill him instead.

In the Japanese versions of Paper Mario games, the female guiding partners all have common English female given names that happen to be puns in Japanese. This pattern is nearly nonexistent in the English versions, where all of them except Olivia were given made-up names instead.

During normal gameplay, enemies in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will at most have a few status effects at a time. However, the game supports anyone having nearly every status effect in the game at once, which creates a stack of icons that breaches the top of the screen.

In New Super Mario Bros., if Mario uses a Mega Mushroom in the Mega Goomba boss fight room and touches it in mid-air, the Goomba will stroll in from the right of the screen in mid-air as well. By touching it in different points in the room, the Goomba's elevation will change.

In the second Midbus battle in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, a cake, donut and meat appear as part of the battle. While they do not act, their stats in the code designate them as some of the most powerful entities in the Mario universe, with every stat being maxed out.

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, a glitch allows Mario to duplicate Bobby, causing two of them to follow Mario temporarily. If they are taken to the Great Sea, one Bobby will ride on the boat with Mario while the other will be attached to the front of the boat as depicted.

In January 2021, an error at Walmart caused an accidental price swap between the $70 Wario eShop card and the $50 Bowser card, causing the Wario card to briefly become "free money" while making the Bowser card a rip-off. A few customers were able to buy the cards at that price.

In Super Mario 64 DS, performing a Slide Kick on the Cool, Cool Mountain slide and falling off the edge will seemingly cause Mario to disappear, but actually warp him high into the air instead. Mario will float in mid-air in that pose until A is pressed, whereupon he will die.

Two test messages found in the files of Mario Party Superstars. One is regular but spoken by "Plincess Peach" with an "L". The other is spoken by "キノピオ" (Toad's Japanese name) and is nearly identical, except Toad appears to scream in the middle of the message.

As part of a charity campaign in 2013, Nintendo of Europe put up Mario decals at the Princess Elisabeth Children’s Hospital in Ghent, Belgium. Each room contained a singular piece of Mario artwork positioned above the examination table in the manner depicted.

In the title screen of Super Mario 64, when the player is grabbing Mario's face, the hand is actually grabbing pink diamonds that act as control points. The diamonds are always present, but their opacity is simply set to 0. Here, the reality of the interaction is made visible.

If Tubba Blubba catches Mario while chasing him in Paper Mario, Mario is supposed to flee. However, using Bow's Outta Sight move will confuse Tubba Blubba, making him leave the battle. An even more obscure interaction is that rubbing Repel Gel on Mario achieves the same effect.

In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, waiting for 300 seconds in the Bizarre Doors of Boo Mansion level will cause a set of horror movie-like handprints to suddenly appear on one of the walls.
