In Super Mario 64, collecting a star above an updraft will cause Mario to float in the wind indefinitely as control is taken away from the player, preventing Mario from escaping the updraft. The only actions the player can perform are moving the camera and turning off the game.

When Bowser attacks Peach's Castle in the beginning of Super Mario Galaxy, the Toads start panicking. However, some Toads remain loaded outside the playable area who continue their cheerful festival animations. Note the sounds of destruction and screaming Toads in the background.

In Donkey Kong Country 2, if Dixie lands on Rambi while performing a helicopter spin and B is pressed on the next frame while Y continues being held, the properties of the helicopter spin will be transferred onto Rambi, allowing him to float through the air.
