According to the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book, the Moon Kingdom and Bowser's Kingdom were originally intended to be one location, so that instead of having a separate "Japanese castle" and "moon" levels, the theme was "Japanese castle on the moon".

In the Choco Mountain course in Mario Kart 64, there is a ledge that can be reached by jumping up a slope that, although it is flat, will cause the racer to tumble in place for over 30 seconds before being saved by Lakitu. Video of the full tumbling duration is provided.

In Luigi's Mansion 3, there is a potted plant on a carpet on Floor 8 of the hotel. The plant is programmed to always return to its initial position, resulting in it performing various erratic motions if the carpet is moved underneath it, including flinging Luigi across the room.

In the Castle Grounds in Super Mario 64, if Mario performs a Long Jump towards a specific section of the fence near the waterfall, he will sit on the fence. Mario will continue sitting until either A is pressed or the Control Stick is wiggled enough to make him fall off.

It is commonly known that in Cool, Cool Mountain in Super Mario 64, Mario can drop the two baby penguins off a cliff. However, by using exploits, it is possible to cause the two adult penguins to fall off cliffs as well, allowing Mario to dispose of all penguins in this manner.

In the Groovy level in Super Mario World, four Pokeys are lined up vertically on a set of ledges. By carefully adjusting their number of segments with Yoshi, when they fall down, they will overlap each other to create what is seemingly a Pokey made out of Pokey heads.

There is an unused stage in the files of Super Princess Peach that consists of a room filled with 256 Sad Goombas. As the game cannot handle displaying that many Sad Goombas at once, it immediately lags, and if enough time is spent with the Sad Goombas on screen, will crash.

The Village Leader's Friend is a minor Yoshi NPC in Paper Mario. In-game, he always hides his hands. However, unused sprites of him showing his hands exist, revealing that he shares friendship bracelets with the Village Leader.
