In Yoshi's Island, if a Shy Guy is hit with an egg on the frame when a falling Chomp's sound effect ends, instead of dying as usual, the Shy Guy will simply turn upside-down and slide away.

In the files of Super Mario Sunshine, an unused enemy named Dorokuri exists, which can steal Mario's hat like a Swipin' Stu. Unlike Swipin' Stus, however, Dorokuris can steal Mario's hat from each other, whereupon they will fly off at extreme speeds.

In the cutscene of Bowser Jr. greeting Mario before the final battle in Super Mario Galaxy, his eye animation becomes glitched, causing him to continuously keep blinking rapidly for the duration of the cutscene.

In Super Mario 64, the Slide Kick gives Mario immunity to all ground hazards, allowing him to bounce off lava, icy water, and quicksand. However, this applies only to the first bounce. On the second bounce, Mario will be hurt or die as appropriate.

In Super Mario World, climbing down this long rope in Cheese Bridge Area causes it to exhibit a "magnetic pull" on Mario. He will be pulled along with it even if he tries to walk away, and can only escape by applying enough force, such as by dashing.
