The Lego Super Mario series introduces a new type of enemy not seen in any Mario games: the Boomer Bill, seen in the Boomer Bill Barrage set (left). Note that this is not simply a renaming of Bullet Bill, as it still appears under that name in the Character Packs (right).

In Super Paper Mario, red lycoris flowers can be seen in Sammer's Kingdom. In Japanese culture, they symbolize death and mourning, and are said to bloom when seeing someone for the last time. This may be foreshadowing of Sammer's Kingdom being obliterated during the game's story.
