In Super Mario Advance 3, it is possible for Yoshi to die while the game is paused, as Ground Pounding a specific kind of platform makes him keep moving during the pause screen, resulting in him passing the death barrier all by himself. Details in image.

In Super Mario Bros., if a Red Koopa Paratroopa is stomped twice in the manner shown in the footage, instead of falling, its shell will be suspended in mid-air. After a few seconds, it will emerge from its shell and start walking on air.

In Super Mario Odyssey, Topper hides inside his hat after being hit (left). If Snapshot Mode is entered during this animation and the camera is moved inside the hat, we can see that his model is deformed severely while he is hiding (right).

It has been brought to my attention that this sprite, as well as other Super Mario Bros. concept sprites, have been previously recreated (with minor differences) by Twitter user @NikoAnesti. I was not aware of this; I apologize for insufficient research. twitter.com/NikoAnesti/sta…

A 1994 French documentary on Nintendo showed concept art for Super Mario Bros., containing a sprite of "Thinking Mario" which was not used in the final game. I have attempted to recreate Thinking Mario's sprite from the footage with both the pre-release and final palettes.

The Wii can sometimes read a low-charge Wii Remote battery as being at 0% charge despite still functioning. If this happens in Super Mario Galaxy 2, the low battery warning will remain on the screen forever - even after replacing the battery - until the game is reset.

The licensed Mario product with the earliest copyright date is this 1982 Jumpman/Mario doll that shows a copyright of 1978. Since Shigeru Miyamoto only invented the character in 1981, this should logically be impossible; the company simply reused tags from an earlier toy.

In the Forest Secret Area in Super Mario World, jumping on a flying platform causes the background to scroll. However, jumping back onto the starting area does not stop the scrolling. This results in a visual effect where the entire landmass appears to accelerate through space.

The long Fire Bars in Super Mario Bros. have a blind spot directly to their sides where they will not hurt Mario. Almost all of them are placed so that Mario can not stand in that spot, except for this Fire Bar at the end of Level 8-4 in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.

2000 print ad for Nintendo's official Brazilian website, featuring original artwork of Mario, Pikachu and Donkey Kong.

One of my relatives has suffered an accident and is severely injured. As a trained caretaker, I will spend my available time providing assistance. Please understand that this will prevent me from making regular posts on my sites in the coming days. I apologize for the disruption.

Internal files for Yoshi's Island contain two title screen logos from 1993, two years before the game's release, reading "MONSTER PARK" and "SUPER YOSSY". These were likely some of the earliest names considered for the game. Here they are overlaid over the game's title screen.

In Ludwig's Castle in Super Mario World, a room contains a descending spiked ceiling. Once the ceiling hits the ground, the sound effect for Mario's spin jump will be replaced with the sound effect for heavy objects hitting the ground until the room is exited.
614
In Hotel Mario, a peace symbol is displayed whenever Mario stomps an enemy. However, the symbol is so faint and disappears so quickly that this is nearly impossible to see without isolating a frame and heavily increasing the contrast (right).

In the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, known internationally as Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, the wind that blows in some levels is so strong that it can blow Mario through walls if he tries walking against it.

Due to the small size of Wario's irises, his eye color appears to be black from a distance, and has been depicted as such in the past. However, more modern renders and textures are now detailed enough to reveal that he actually has blue eyes, like Mario.
617
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, unlocking Ms. Mowz before Bobbery (possible legitimately) makes her glitched in Chapter 5. The healing menu shows Bobbery instead of her, and using an item on her actually heals Bobbery, wasting the item since he is not physically present.
618
Due to widespread disagreement over the nature of the Underwhere in Super Paper Mario and the exact mechanism behind Mario being sent there, the previous Tweet can no longer be considered factual and thus has been deleted. I apologize for any undue speculation on my part.

As discovered by Twitter user @kikaim, a Chain Chomp on the cover of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions only has teeth on one side of its mouth. I have created a mock-up of what this Chain Chomp would look like in 3D.

In the files of Hotel Mario, audio for a tutorial narrated by Mario can be found. However, Mario is not voiced by his voice actor from the final version of the game, but by a monotone voice likely belonging to one of the developers and intended as a placeholder.

In the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion DLC, the Ink & Watch Station level contains floating Game & Watch systems in the background. The level is too dark to see them clearly; extracted from the files (left), we can see they are Splatoon-themed versions of Donkey Kong Jr. (right).
622
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, if Luigi is made to burrow in the ground in a precise spot at the bottom-right corner of a ledge, he can leave the ledge and burrow in mid-air. This appears as Luigi's hat floating in mid-air in front of Mario (note the shadow under the hat).
623
In Super Mario Galaxy, Ice Mario/Luigi can normally only create ice platforms on water, but there is one spot where they can also do it on lava. Instead of adding extra code to this lava, the developers used a simple trick where it is encased in invisible boxes of water instead.

The calico mother cat in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury has a model that is optimized for sitting down (left). Although she can stand up, doing so reveals the deformed body and underdeveloped hind legs (right).

The WarioWare series was created out of the development team's low opinion of Wario's intelligence. According to Yoshio Sakamoto, producer of most WarioWare games, the reason the games feature Wario is because he "is always doing stupid things and is really idiotic".
