In Yoshi's Island, if Yoshi deals the final hit to Hookbill the Koopa before he hits the ground, Yoshi will shoot up into the sky at an extremely high velocity. The boss defeat cutscene will play out and the level will end without Yoshi ever coming down.

Whenever Mario enters water from a great height in Super Mario 64, he says "haha!" This actually sets a "haha flag", which does not get cleared until Mario enters an airborne state or exits the area. As long as it is set, Mario will say "haha!" every time he touches water.

In Super Mario Bros. 2, a POW Block and the end-of-level Crystal Ball are found in the same room in 1-3. Dropping the POW Block next to the Crystal Ball makes it ascend. Picking it up near the ceiling causes the character to fall through the floor and become stuck indefinitely.

In Super Mario Odyssey, if Mario flies above Glydon using a Gushen, then uncaptures it so that the Gushen hits Glydon on the head, Glydon will become glitched and begin to extremely slowly ascend into the air. He will continue ascending at this pace forever.
