In the Satellaview version of Super Mario All-Stars, audio commentary is provided by Japanese actress Nae Yuuki. She is depicted as an in-universe Mushroom Kingdom inhabitant in the game, interacting with the protagonists. Below are all illustrations of her from the game.

In Super Mario 64, holding R in the "Lakitu/Stop" camera mode allows Mario to get arbitrarily far away from the camera. Doing it in a course with atmospheric fog, like Jolly Roger Bay or Tick Tock Clock, shows that Mario's model is not affected by fog and always remains visible.

In Yoshi's Island, almost all levels have an elaborate color gradient set as the furthest background layer - including those where it is never visible due to other layers covering it. Here are examples of the levels as they normally appear and the hidden gradients in them.

If Mario is in the front when exiting the Starbeans Cafe in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Luigi will be drawn on top of Mario during the few frames the screen fades in, appearing to be standing on Mario's face. If Luigi is in the front, nothing happens.

In the Bowser Land board in Mario Party 2, landing on a Bank Space forces a player to pay coins instead of receiving them. An extremely rare event will happen if a player lands on the space with 0 coins; in that case, Banker Baby Bowser will take an entire star from the player.

Level 5-3 of New Super Mario Bros. contains a unique enemy, the Snailicorn (left). Due to the game running at 240p natively, it is hard to make out the details of the model. By increasing the game's internal resolution, we can take a closer look at the Snailicorn's design.

The song "TEC's Waltz" from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which plays when Peach dances with a hologram of herself, is actually a remix of Frédéric Chopin's 1847 Waltz in C-sharp minor, Opus 64, No. 2. Here, both tracks are played back to back.

While Waluigi is already the tallest regular human Mario character, he would appear even taller if he was standing up straight. Here is a comparison between the heights of his usual stance and a stance with good posture using the Mario character size reference chart.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, if a flying power-up is used to fly above a Winged Boom Boom during his swooping attack, he will fly up out of the screen and never return. The level cannot be completed in this state and the player must let the timer run out to retry.

The Fishin' Boo is an enemy that appeared in Super Mario World and has always been considered a ghost (Super Mario Encyclopedia entry, left). However, defeating a Fishin' Boo in Super Mario Run using a Super Star shows it is merely a Toad-like character wearing a sheet (right).

In Super Mario Bros. 3, entering quicksand with a flying power-up and flying back out will cause Mario to not assume his flying sprite as long as he is moving upwards. Depending on whether he flies straight up or to the side, he will appear to stand or walk in mid-air.

When Mario obtains a Big Mushroom in Super Mario Maker 2, he assumes his Small Mario sprite with modern coloration (top). However, when the same sprite is used on the Endless Challenge map screen, one of his overall buttons is white instead of yellow (bottom, button circled).

As a Buzzy Beetle's shell is normally not removable in 3D games, only the underside of its body is modeled. An exception to this is the Buzzy Beetle trophy model from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where its entire body is modeled inside the shell. (Untextured version in bottom right.)

Donkey Kong Land uses a reference to the British rock band Pink Floyd as an integrity check. Four "PFLOYD" strings are found in the code. The game checks if all four are present when the game runs; if they are not, the save files are deleted.

In Super Mario 64, letting the elevator in the shed in Big Boo's Haunt descend on top of Mario will put him into a state where his model will tilt and warp in various directions while moving.

I apologize for an incorrect post featuring the print ad seen below. The wording of the source misled me into believing it was published by an organization; in reality, it was the work of a student for an ad design course. The original post has been deleted.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, one of the World 8 maps is dark, with only a small area being visible (left). However, running out of time in a pipe connection (middle) removes the darkness, revealing that the map is filled with many more skulls than can normally be seen (right).

The character of Tubba Blubba in Paper Mario is based on a Norwegian fairy tale called "The Giant who had No Heart in his Body". In addition to the main premise, some other small details refer to the tale, such as the heart being in a well, or a key being needed to access it.
