Inside the fridge in the Kitchen in Luigi's Mansion, there are boxes of food labeled "food" (left). However, on the opposite wall, visible only through the Game Boy Horror, there is a box where the same texture is mirrored, appearing instead to read "boot" or "boof" (right).

In Super Mario Galaxy, the main feature of the Dreadnought Galaxy is the Dreadnought (top), a spaceship that seems to be under construction due to being covered in girders and scaffolding. Removing them from the model, we can see the true shape of the ship (bottom).

A series of 1992 Mario pachinko game rewards from Japan has a particular focus on Blue Baby Yoshi, containing a Blue Baby Yoshi pool toy, Blue and Yellow Baby Yoshi erasers and a pin of Mario throwing a Blue Baby Yoshi into the air with the caption "FUTURE WORLD".

In Super Mario Maker (left), the transparent Star sprite that emerges from the Goal Roulette in the Super Mario Bros. 3 style has two extra pixels near the bottom left corner compared to the original game (middle). This error carries over into Super Mario Maker 2 (right).

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, a glitch allows Mario to duplicate Bobby, causing two of them to follow Mario temporarily. If they are taken to the Great Sea, one Bobby will ride on the boat with Mario while the other will be attached to the front of the boat as depicted.

Level 1-7 of Yoshi's Island, "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy", contains one of the easiest-to-perform infinite life tricks in the greater Mario franchise. The process is detailed in the image. Once initiated, the game can be left running without input until the life count reaches 999.

Occasionally, I am asked why I cover Donkey Kong games in addition to Mario games. My answer is that Nintendo treats Donkey Kong as a sub-franchise of Mario. As an example, a lot of official merchandise exists that depicts Donkey Kong characters but only has Super Mario branding.

The Chinese beverage company Wahaha Group uses an unlicensed edited version of Super Mario World artwork for their "Wahaha Vitamin A&D and Calcium Soft Drink" featuring their mascot. The mascot and original Super Mario World artwork are on the right for comparison.

In Super Mario 3D World, jumping and swiping at a Cannon Box in Bowser's Bullet Bill Brigade in cat form can result in the character's head and arms seemingly disappearing. However, they are still there, only shrunk to a fraction of their size (note Toad's tiny head, right).

In 2015, officially licensed merchandise was released depicting Luigi, with the only caption being "Super Mario". While this is clearly intended to only refer to the franchise and not the character, it may appear as though the merchandise is misidentifying Luigi as Mario.

The 1999 children's activity book "Mario's Adventure Land" has Mario and Peach in Diddy Kong Racing, leading to a rare instance of Banjo from Banjo-Kazooie appearing in a licensed Mario work (top left). Please excuse the pencil marks; this is the only currently available scan.

In the intro to Super Paper Mario, Mario's house from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door appears with a black outline (left). This is not the result of a new shading method; instead, the outline is simply drawn separately around all objects to line up with the camera (right).

In Super Mario Maker 2, it is possible to permanently add more power-up options to the menu that is displayed when the playable character is tapped in the Course Maker mode, by dragging one of the wearable shells onto the character while still in the editor. Details below.

One change added to Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when it was localized from Japanese was polite shopkeepers. In the original version, they do not thank Mario for his purchases, but in all international versions, "thank you" messages were added for all transactions.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, if Luigi is made to burrow in the ground in a precise spot at the bottom-right corner of a ledge, he can leave the ledge and burrow in mid-air. This appears as Luigi's hat floating in mid-air in front of Mario (note the shadow under the hat).

The official Japanese site for Super Mario Maker 2 reveals what the Angry Sun looks like in the NSMBU style, not seen in the trailer (left). While almost certainly a coincidence, the sun's eye shape resembles the Sun Switches from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (right).

In the cutscene after defeating a boss in Luigi's Mansion, E. Gadd is jumping ecstatically (left), however, he is only seen from behind during this. Viewing him from the front, we can see the motion makes his glasses clip through his face, revealing his dot-like eyes (right).

In Yoshi's Island, touching a Fuzzy makes Yoshi "get dizzy", i.e. distorts the screen. This can be taken beyond the confines of the level. If Start and Select are pressed on the frame where Yoshi touches the Fuzzy, the map screen will be affected with a mosaic censor effect.
