Then, at the screening of @DarrenAronofsky's 'The Whale', I've never seen a more rapturous reception to an actor at LFF than when Brendan Fraser stepped onstage. This is before they saw the film. Afterwards, he could have crowdsurfed out and be handed the Oscar on the Southbank.

Joining in with the chorus of ‘Sweet Caroline’ more important than being live on the BBC. Confirmed.

Tonight at @LondonLafayette I saw a hugely entertaining acoustic show by @beck where he played ‘Ramona’ from Scott Pilgrim for the first time ever. Yes, I got my phone out to record it.

Hey UK! On Sept 3rd, more than 550 cinemas offer £3 tickets for all shows. in celebration of #NationalCinemaDay2022. I have very fond memories of similar days in the late 90's and once saw 6 movies in single day. But it's okay just to see one too. Enjoy!!! nationalcinemaday.uk

I've seen some people say 'It's okay to bump the shorts', ... but frankly, those winners are frequently the stars of tomorrow, who will in turn inspire the next generation of film-makers out there watching. I feel it's a mistake to not also let them shine live on the night. 3/5

Was lucky to see @ROMAIN_GAVRAS's blistering ATHENA on a big screen. An astounding film, combining LA HAINE's incandescent rage with the how-the-fuck-did-they-shoot-this invention of I AM CUBA. The opening 11 minute shot is a masterpiece, and amazingly the rest keeps it up. Wow.

RIP to Alan Hawkshaw, the undisputed king of TV theme tunes. Among his many many indelible ear worms is this, the only 70’s theme tunes I’ve ever danced to in a club (Thank you, Blow Up). Enjoy the Hammond organ majesty of Dave Allen At Large. Thank you Alan for all the tunes.

I really enjoyed Nic Cage’s performance in ‘Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent’; he’s always been more than just the quiet/loud dynamo and there’s huge pleasure to be had seeing his low key charming side. The fact that his imaginary muse is 1990 ‘Wogan’ Cage is hilarious too.

Thoroughly enjoyed @JordanPeele's NOPE on the big screen; full of arresting imagery, idiosyncratic details to chew on and (without spoiling anything) more enjoyable nods to desert set, 50's Universal sci-fi flicks like IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE than I expected. See it huge. 1/2
