Today, we came to the close of the two-day conference on Peace and Security in Africa, held in Hargeisa, the capital of the Republic of Somaliland. Great pleasure to meet and learn from His Excellency @musebiihi regarding his country's journey to statehood and nation building.

Very interesting to see that since 1991, this country has had five governments, each of them elected democratically on a peaceful basis. Great to see that the country which was almost entirely destroyed by war has since made great progress in terms of economic development.

Yesterday, we were at Kitalya to check on comrades who've spent 13 months in detention for putting on red berets! They're strong but disturbed by the long period of detention without trial. Encouraged them to remain hopeful & assured them of efforts to see them regain freedom.

Last year in the aftermath of the most rigged election, and the abhorrent handling of our Petition at the Supreme Court by Mr. Owiny-Dollo, we petitioned the Judicial Service Commission to investigate. Over 14 months now. No hearing. No response. Nothing. A nation under capture.

Makerere Uni Vice Chancellor today arbitrarily suspended 3 students' leaders vying for Guild Presidency on the @NUP_Ug ticket. They're accused of trying to hold a peaceful assembly at the University. Evident this is part of the wider clampdown by the regime and its factionalies.
