The book examines how best poverty can be addressed on the continent. It is my great honor to have contributed to this project, and to have been given the opportunity to suggest the title of the book. I thank Dr. Greg Mills and the @BrenthurstF for the great work they do.

Africa has received $1.2tn in aid since 1990. Donors have spent more than $1000 per person over the 30 yrs, yet the average income of sub-Saharan Africans has only increased by $350! Little to show for the money, most of which is lost in corruption. Uganda is a classic example.

Yesterday, we launched this very important book, EXPENSIVE POVERTY in Johannesburg, South Africa. The book, authored by my great friend Dr. Greg Mills interrogates the question of foreign aid, and why it has not substantially improved the lives of the people of Africa.

We have a heavy duty, and opportunity to free ourselves from the oppressive rule and make a decision never again to have our people subjected to so much indignity and humiliation!

Very sad that so many people had to die under the illusion that after the war, our country would for the first time move away from the dark past and see a new dawn. Unfortunately, Museveni has outdone the past regimes combined- of which he was an active participant in the anarchy

While #DictatorMuseveni celebrated 36 years ruling our country with the gun, our leaders gathered in Luwero to pray for the souls of hundreds of thousands who died in the war. As always, the military disrupted the event with teargas and live bullets! #WeAreRemovingADictator

We pray that God will protect him and shield him from the evil schemes of the enemy.

Joined multitudes of faithfuls at Lubaga Cathedral, to witness the installation of the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere. I congratulate His Grace and pray God will grant him the wisdom, grace and courage to lead His people at this critical time.

This morning, author Kakwenza Rukirabashaija was released on bail by court. Now been informed that he's been abducted by the military and taken to an unknown place. Also, tomorrow, Gen. Museveni will celebrate the day he took over our country with the gun promising democracy!

Sad Prof. Mutebile has joined the long list of prominent Ugandans who have had to die on foreign land, most frequently in Nairobi. There has been no serious effort to uplift healthcare in Uganda. Those who can afford will be on the next flight abroad. We must reverse the trend.

We for example recall him speak of being misled to fund the 2011 election! And the scandals that rocked BOU later. When institutions are personalised by a corrupt regime, it's difficult to avoid scandals, regardless of the intentions and expertise of the officials leading them.

Learnt with sorrow, the passing of Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, a distinguished economist who served Uganda in different capacities before rising to position of Governor @BOU_Official. On my behalf and on behalf of @NUP_Ug, I send condolences to his family and loved ones.

UBC journalist suspended for 'embarrassing' Mrs. Nabbanja! How worse can it get? So journalists are expected to cover up for regime incompetence, and spew out lies and propaganda against those opposed to Museveni! No heroes in a sinking boat- ALL of us must work for liberation! twitter.com/JoelSsenyonyi/…

The Uganda Prisons doctor confirms author & activist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has scars of wounds on the back, the buttocks, thighs and hands! Overwhelming evidence of torture at the hands of SFC! Simply unacceptable! There MUST BE ACCOUNTABILITY for these crimes against humanity!
941
The joke that our country has been reduced to!
942
A tweet from Uganda Human Rights Commission confirming signs of torture on Kawenza Rukirabashaija taken down. In 2018 when UHRC visited me at Makindye Military Prison and wrote a report confirming torture, they came under so much fire from the regime! I suspect, same thing here.

A grave crisis in the education sector. In almost every district of Uganda, we have children studying under trees. After 36 years of a corrupt, inept regime! What matters to Museveni and his decadent regime is regime perpetuation- nothing else. This is why #WeAreRemovingADictator twitter.com/DailyMonitor/s…

Lawlessness breeds more lawlessness. We must all realise that until we subdue the gun and install the rule by law, everyone will remain potentially a victim of violence and brutality. Sympathies to the officer who was shot on duty. We are not fighting you. WE ARE FIGHTING FOR YOU

A fuel crisis orchestrated by the regime's poor planning and extortionist approach to COVID. Parents unable to take children to school over hiked fees. Unexplained school fires. Hawkers, bodas and other low income earners hunted down. Regime's response? Propaganda against NUP!

What Museveni's puppet Don Wanyama has reduced the New Vision to! Worse than a tabloid. Happens when you personalise institutions and appoint incompetent stooges & sycophants to head them. Our nation is in deep crisis- they must manufacture lies to divert. #WeAreRemovingADictator

At 2:00pm (EAT), I address the Human Rights Committee of the Italian Parliament, regarding the continuing gross violations, as well as the need for the world to stop funding the dictatorship. The hearing will be relayed live here: webtv.camera.it/evento/19811

Such a young man, taken a way from his family and his work for a full year for no crime whatsoever! We still have hundreds of our people stuck in prisons over the same bogus charges. We have an urgent duty to deliver our nation from this mess.

Kassim Migadde was picked up by a 'drone' on Dec 10th 2020. Gravely tortured and then charged before the military court with putting on a red beret. He has spent a full year and one month under illegal detention! Today, he was released on bail. #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUganda

You are a miracle! Being able to celebrate your birthday once again is an assertion that even if #DictatorMuseveni wants is dead, we shall live for as long as God has a purpose for our lives here on earth. Happy birthday Kasirye Ashraf.
