I met with the Canadian House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign and Defense Mission led by the Hon. John McKay. I told everyone that if Taiwan falls, democracy will fall. I hope that Taiwan and Canada, on both sides of the Pacific Ocean, will protect our values together.

The use of force against Taiwan must be out of the question. The future of Taiwan is being forged by the Taiwanese people, as our country makes positive contributions to the world. Taiwanese are grateful to our partners for standing with us for democracy, prosperity and peace.

Ukrainians have heroically resisted Russia’s invasion for one year, Taiwan continues to stand with them. Brutal attacks against a peaceful neighbor cannot be excused or allowed to succeed.

Don’t make trouble. The median line of the Taiwan strait is a sign of peace, to deny its existence undermines the status quo. Reckless gestures in the sky and sea cannot become the new normal. Peaceful and equal dialogue is the way forward.

Honored to attend the inauguration of President @XiomaraCastroZ, she gave a great speech. Today is a new beginning for the people of Honduras and a new start for our relationship. We are here to improve the life of our peoples, and to protect the sovereignty of our countries.

Becoming a bilingual nation by 2030 is our goal. Fluency in English and Mandarin will make Taiwanese society more open and dynamic. Taiwan is transforming into a country more welcoming to immigrants, and more willing to engage with the world.

Stronger ties between Taiwan 🇹🇼 and Lithuania 🇱🇹, and the rest of the EU 🇪🇺, are a positive development for stability and peace. Being pro-Taiwan isn’t being anti-China. This isn’t a zero sum game.

Taiwan and our friends in Europe are not fearful. We have work to do.

As VP and as a Taiwanese, I’m proud to see President Tsai represent our country with dignity abroad. No matter the difficulties we face, Taiwanese people are calm, pragmatic, and confident in who we are.

Tonight I hosted a dinner for Japanese ex-Prime Minister Mori while President Tsai hosted U.S. Under Secretary of State Krach. Earlier today China responded to the visits with more military threats, but we will keep working with our partners for peace in the Indo-Pacific.

Taiwan and Japan are natural partners in safeguarding democracy. The behaviour of China, North Korea, and Russia are a concern for both of us. Our two countries should establish a common security dialogue mechanism to protect peace in the region.

The road has never been easy for our country, but the Taiwanese people have never been discouraged. Democracy, sovereignty and freedom are the values we celebrate today on National Day 🇹🇼

Taiwan had so far remained mostly COVID free. Now we are facing community transmission for the first time. But we will keep working together and caring for each other. We will get through this.

Today I registered my candidacy for the DPP presidential primary. Boosting the domestic economy, growing green energy, maintaining a resilient supply chain, and safeguarding peace are my goals. I’m honored by the support of millions of Taiwanese who share this vision.
