3. Just a couple days ago, he recorded a video in support of Hong Kong movement and Taiwan. The police accused him of intending to hurt the Queen on 14 Oct, when the protest was completely peaceful and did not obstruct the movement of the Queen.

4. Francis was wanted under the military rule that arbitrarily deprives people of their basic rights of protesting and speech. It’s obvious that the authority intended to intimidate the other protestors by setting Francis as an example. This charge could put him in jail for life.

5. When Francis heard about the arrest warrant, he decided to confront this absurd accusation – on 16 Oct, he turned himself to the police station and stated clearly that he did not intend to hurt anyone.

6. Before he stepped into the police station, he reconfirmed his determination towards the fight for freedom. He quoted President Roosevelt:” The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.”

7. Often people living in democratic societies take freedom for granted. While in the other part of the world, protestors have to face life-long imprisonment for the most fundamental rights to protest and vote. We all stand together, and to support the pursuit of democracy.

1. It's too dangerous for a Hong Kong political dissident to travel to Thailand. In 2016, Joshua was detained at the airport when he tried to give a speech there. I was so worried he would be abducted just like the bookseller, which we may not be able to see him again.

2. In 2015, a bookseller who sold sensitive books in Hong Kong was kidnapped in Thailand by the Chinese authority and brought back to China. For now, he is still in jail. The Thai government seemed tacitly allowing this incident.

3. Luckily, under our liaison, pressure, and protest, Joshua safely returned. After that, even though I like the Thai culture and people, I was too worried to go because of the regime's close relationship with China.
