The vice chancellor of CUHK, one of the best research uni in #HongKong and Asia, was teargassed when the police betrayed the truce reached mins ago. It’s a blantant attack on academic freedom and intellectuals. Global, US academia should condemn it and protect your fellows in HK.

Fact: Under the provision of the national security law in Hong Kong, even if you are an alien breaching the law in outer space, you are still in danger. It covers anyone at any places. twitter.com/GordonGChang/s…

I am astonished by this wonky comment. The protestors are not carrying a suicide mission and military bloodshed is the last thing that protestors and HK people want to see. DO NOT justify the intervention and violence from the CHINA side. Victim blaming is not gonna help. #HK twitter.com/BBCNewsnight/s…

The Chicago-founded law firm Mayer Brown decided to stop assisting Beijing to persecute free speech. How about the other US companies — like the Beijing Olympics broadcaster NBC — that are complicit in Beijing’s human rights violations? Should they also be held accountable?

Facing the risk of being extradited back to China & Hong Kong and decades of imprisonment, I sincerely urge democratic countries to lift extradition treaties with these regimes to protect human rights defenders. #StandwithHongKong twitter.com/ipacglobal/sta…

6. Supporters vowed their support to the paper outside its building on its last day. It's a heartbreaking scene, and the govt singlehanded created this tragedy. CCP does not tolerate truth and independent journalism. They crush our civil society, our proud tradition.

Latest Update: After days of closure, the website (2021hkcharter.com) is resotred, yet no explanation from @Wix. Hope the service providers understand that they should not comply with CCP to limit free speech. I am still waiting for an explanation.
