During the cutscenes after defeating a boss in Luigi's Mansion, a small screen is briefly visible on the machinery (left). It shows three ghosts sitting at a table (top right). These appeared in a Spaceworld 2000 promotional screenshot (bottom right), but were cut from the game.

The default camera in the foyer of Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 64 is fixed in place above the front door, only rotating to keep Mario in view (top). Entering first-person mode reveals an otherwise unseen Boo painting in the exact spot where the default camera is (bottom).

In Super Paper Mario, the Power Plus item raises the party's Attack by 1. During this, a "+1" arrow appears above the character (left). However, in the special case where the stat is already 99, a unique "+0" arrow appears instead and the item is wasted with no effect (right).

In Mario Party 7, during the setup phase of the Volcano Peril minigame mode, the four chosen characters are all rendered at the same coordinates above the camera, resulting in them overlapping each other. Here are examples of this effect featuring all playable characters.

During the second mission of Pounce Bounce Isle in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, a "Phantom Blockstepper" event can occur. If one of these Blocksteppers falls off the ledge, it will become glitched and continuously materialize and dematerialize out of existence.

In the Flipside Outskirts in Super Paper Mario, there is a doorway where positioning Mario in a precise location (left) and switching to 2D results in Mario merging with the wall. Switching to Peach or Bowser retains the effect; however, switching to Luigi ends it immediately.

In Super Mario 64, when Mario performs his Z+B kick move (called "Trip" by the manual), one of the buttons on his overalls disappears for the duration of the move.

Occasionally, I am asked why I cover Donkey Kong games in addition to Mario games. My answer is that Nintendo treats Donkey Kong as a sub-franchise of Mario. As an example, a lot of official merchandise exists that depicts Donkey Kong characters but only has Super Mario branding.

As a decoration on the Creepy Cavern board in Mario Party 3, three Whomps are seen playing their own game of Mario Party (left). The board they are using is actually Rules Land, the tutorial board from Mario Party 2 (middle), mirrored vertically (comparison on right).

On the Mushroom Bridge track in Mario Kart: Double Dash, if a kart is placed diagonally on the bridge's beam, the Lakitu with the "Reverse" sign will slowly back off until he is extremely far away (circled in last image) and not come closer until the kart moves from its spot.

The Japanese demo version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door includes more content than can normally be seen. If a Peach cutscene is accessed, Grodus's model is revealed to be missing. Instead, he appears as the small dialogue window star (left: finished game, right: demo).

In Super Mario Bros. 2, strategically placing Potions allows picking up more than 9 coins per level. This will cause the coin count at the roulette to roll over to using letters. Collecting even more coins with cheats causes the display to go through all graphics in the game.

In the first mission of Pianta Village in Super Mario Sunshine, three Chain Chomplets must be brought to a pond, where they will burrow into the sand (top). However, the ground in that spot is so thin that they burrow through to the underside of the village (bottom).

In Super Mario Bros. 3, certain environments cause Fire Mario's fireballs to assume different palettes. During all Koopaling battles, they become white with a light blue outline (left). Inside Toad Houses, they become green with a black outline (right).

Normally, when Snapshot Mode is entered in Super Mario Odyssey, time stops and all movement is halted immediately. The only characters that have the ability to move during Snapshot Mode are Bonneters, who rotate slightly towards Mario for a few frames after it is activated.
