During the beginning segment of Paper Mario: The Origami King, a series of events happens at the east end of Whispering Woods. Going all the way back to the other end to talk to the furthest tree after each event will give a new comment on Mario's thoughtfulness each time.

At one point in Super Mario Sunshine, Delfino Plaza is flooded while the rest of Isle Delfino is not. The game achieves this not by raising the water level, but by lowering Delfino Plaza relative to the rest of the island (note the same water level in Ricco Harbor on the left).

In Super Mario Maker 2, a unique effect can be observed by stacking a Zappa Mechakoopa onto a giant Iggy (left). The Zappa Mechakoopa will blend into Iggy's sprite due to their similar colors (middle) and Iggy will appear to shoot lasers from his eyes (right).

In Super Mario 64, the lighting effect on Bowser in the final battle (left) is achieved by taking the regular Bowser model and applying a layer of rainbow colors on top of it. On the right is the color layer by itself, without Bowser's regular textures.

In the sunken ship in Jolly Roger Bay in Super Mario 64, there is one corner that has no collision that Mario can swim right through (left). Swimming upwards after going through the wall will lead Mario to an open expanse of water in the darkness (right).

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Bobby's attack sometimes misses. While this appears to be random, there is actually an indicator beforehand that allows it to be strategized around. If during the lineup phase Bobby has no "Z"s above him, he will hit. If he does, he will miss.

In Super Mario Sunshine, if Mario performs a Ground Pound while on Yoshi, they both turn around in mid-air as expected (left). However, if Yoshi is spitting juice during this, the animation becomes glitched and Mario remains in the same position while Yoshi rotates under him.

In Super Mario Odyssey, reentering a completed side area causes Cappy to comment on it (left). However, if Mario enters it without Cappy, the message still appears, but in a smaller font (right), representing Cappy's voice coming from outside the area.

In the ending to Super Mario 64, Peach, the Toads and Mario all walk towards the castle. However, as soon as they are off screen, Peach and the Toads stop moving, while Mario continues towards the door. This results in Mario running straight through Peach on his way to the door.
