The credits for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door show a photo montage of the adventure. 49 out of the 50 photos are always the same. However, the photo of Ms. Mowz kissing Mario will show Goombella or Koops depending on who was active during that cutscene in that playthrough.

In the beginning segment of Luigi's Mansion 3, Luigi gets a disturbed look when near the hotel staff (left). The animation of him noticing the ghosts can only be seen during that segment and includes him going through several expressions in half a second (right).

All mainline (non-arcade) Mario Kart games share this property: each title contains either the SNES Rainbow Road track or the Fake Item Box item, but never both at the same time. While it is most likely a coincidence, this is the only such exclusionary relationship in the series.

In 1990, Nintendo of America filed a trademark for "Super Mario Sisters" to be used as the name of an electronic game program. However, the trademark was abandoned a year later without any product being released. To date, the original plans regarding the name remain unknown.

At the 1994 European Computer Trade Show, Silicon Graphics presented "Project Reality", hardware that would later be used inside the Nintendo 64. One of the demos shown was a first-person perspective walk through a realistic town populated with cutouts of Nintendo characters.

According to the original 1985 design documents for Super Mario Bros., the first Goomba in World 1-1 was intended to start off on the blocks. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, this did not create a welcoming atmosphere, so the Goomba was moved to the ground to be easier to avoid.
