An unused scene found in the data of Super Mario RPG is a duplicate of Peach's scenes from Booster Tower on a different background; however, the dialogue is replaced with the time messages from the Count Down boss battle. This is the only unused scene in the game.

In Super Mario Galaxy, Mario's silhouette is visible whenever Mario walks behind an object. The silhouette is always of regular Mario, even when he is in a different form, like Bee Mario. To prevent too much of a discrepancy between the two models, Boo Mario has no silhouette.

Due to the X and Y buttons sharing all functions in Super Mario World, it is possible to perform a button press action while it's already being held, by holding one and pressing the other.This allows Mario to throw fireballs while holding an item, impossible with just one button.

Sprites for an unused bird found in the data of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Since the sprites are next to Broque Monsieur in the code, it is possible that these birds were intended to be collectible in an early version of the game, as Blitties are in the finished game.

The 1989 commercial for Super Mario Bros. 2 (left) shows an unusual health meter in the upper left. This is actually a feature from the game's prototype version, where pressing Select gives the player 15 health (middle). The glitched health is a recolored part of Mario (right).

In the museum in the Skulking Around level in Yoshi's Crafted World, three vases can be found as exhibits in the background. The design of these is a reference to the vases from Level 2-8 of Yoshi's Island, and that level's boss, Roger the Potted Ghost.

In the Hide and Sneak minigame in Mario Party 3, the characters are shown running between the different hiding places. This is entirely misdirection on part of the game, as the running animation is independent of both player input and location and thus is best entirely ignored.

Unused yellow, blue and teal palettes of Frog Mario and Frog Luigi found in the data of the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3. These are not used even within the palette cycle during the invincibility animation.

My apologies for an error in a recent Tweet. I had wrongfully stated that Luigi's skeleton can only be seen in cutscenes in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, when in reality it can also be seen by failing the Thunder Bros. move. The Tweet in question has been deleted.
