Panel from an official 2006 Super Princess Peach manga. In order to win Toad Shot, a minigame where the player must originally defeat enemies by touching them with the stylus, Peach produces a machine gun to shoot them faster. She is saying "まかせて!", or "Leave it to me!"

In the Look Away minigame in Mario Party 2, whenever one of the team players fails to look in a different direction from the single player, their head will shrink. While unlikely, it is possible to fail 5 times, causing the head to be minuscule (see DK to the left of Mario).

In Super Mario 64 DS, if Yoshi throws an egg immediately before jumping on a Spindrift or Fly Guy (left), he will bounce off with one arm outstretched (middle). He will continue to hold his arm in that position throughout all animations until A is pressed (right).

In Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (shown here in the latter), if A and B are pressed simultaneously at the start of the level as Fire Mario, he will briefly slide on one foot. Unfortunately, Mario will correct himself to a regular run after 2 seconds.

Nintendo of America's official site for WarioWare: Twisted featured a downloadable desktop widget that would display images of randomly matched heads and bodies of Jimmy T., Orbulon, Spitz, Mona, 9-Volt and Dr. Crygor. Below are all the mashup graphics extracted from the program.

Mario's sprite used in the cutscene of entering Bowser's Keep for the second time in Super Mario RPG is the smallest full-body Mario sprite in any Mario game, at 7 pixels tall and 5 pixels wide.

Tetris Attack is a Yoshi-themed puzzle game. Alexey Pajitnov, the creator of the original Tetris, did work on a Yoshi-themed puzzle game - but ironically, it wasn't Tetris Attack. Instead, he designed the puzzles for the SNES version of Yoshi's Cookie.

WarioWare Gold contains a reference to the Google Search homepage. In the "Crowded Desktop" microgame, one of the windows that can randomly appear contains six colored blobs above a search bar. The color order of the blobs exactly matches the letters in the Google logo.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the partner primers refer to all partners in third person, except for Ms. Mowz, whose primer is in first person (right). This could either be an oversight or a hint that Ms. Mowz is the one narrating all the primers.

Left idle for a minute in Super Mario Sunshine, Mario will adjust FLUDD's belt (left). However, the same animation is also used when Mario is not wearing FLUDD (e.g. in the file select screen or in the secret courses), leading him to still adjust his nonexistent belt (right).

Clearing the Special Zone in Super Mario World provides an extra bit of added difficulty. Normally, Buzzy Beetles shake before starting to move after being stunned. However, after beating the Special Zone, they start to move without shaking, providing no warning to the player.

In the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion DLC, the Ink & Watch Station level contains floating Game & Watch systems in the background. The level is too dark to see them clearly; extracted from the files (left), we can see they are Splatoon-themed versions of Donkey Kong Jr. (right).

Officially licensed 2018 Super Mario masking tape from Japan. While appearing to be a simple camouflage pattern at an angle or from a distance (top left), the patterns are actually made from Mario character silhouettes (bottom right, zoom in to view).

In Super Mario Sunshine, if Mario performs a Ground Pound while on Yoshi, they both turn around in mid-air as expected (left). However, if Yoshi is spitting juice during this, the animation becomes glitched and Mario remains in the same position while Yoshi rotates under him.

A Japanese print ad for Super Mario Bros. 3 shows an obscured pre-release screenshot of a sky level that has a gradient effect on top of the screen, absent from the finished game (left). I have attempted to recreate the gradient inside a level from the release version (right).

Drawing of Mario and a Luma by Shigeru Miyamoto, along with a message, from the Collector's Edition of the Super Mario Galaxy Prima official guide.

When choosing Bowser's Japanese name, Shigeru Miyamoto was determined to name him after a Korean dish. While he eventually settled on "Kuppa" (which was then translated internationally as Koopa), according to a 2000 interview, he also considered calling him "Yukke" and "Bibinba".

In the data of Paper Mario, an unused battle against four Amazy Dayzees can be found, intended to have a very small chance of appearing in Flower Fields. This was likely cut due to being too deadly; if all Amazy Dayzees attack on the first turn, Mario will die even at maximum HP.

The data for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door contains unused early graphics for Vivian. Compared to the finished version (left), the early design is shorter and has a flame on the tip of the hat (right).

Close-up of Old Link's face, seen in Level 2 of the "Ocarina of Time" microgame in WarioWare: Smooth Moves.

Boo's Boneyard Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy consists of a main cave area, and this small bone planetoid Mario starts off on (left). Very far away from that planetoid, surrounded by empty space, is a single unobtainable Star Bit (right, see distance to area in upper right corner).

An addendum to the post about Small Yoshi: twitter.com/MarioBrothBlog… Super Mario Run is also the only appearance of Small Daisy. However, until now, her model has never been extracted. I was approached by Twitter user @El_Libre_, who has generously offered to extract the data.

When calling the E. Gadd Hotline in Luigi's Mansion 3, sometimes E. Gadd's model will be seen in a default position for a frame when the first letter of the message appears (left) before snapping to the correct position (right).

In Super Mario 64, the Piranha Plants found in Whomp's Fortress are normally seen sleeping with their mouths fully closed (left). However, there is an unused animation in the game's data that shows them sleeping with teeth visible (right), making them appear to have an overbite.
