New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe added a period after "Nintendo" in the copyright line compared to the original. Note that it is not standard Nintendo policy to add the period; thus, this was a deliberate decision, possibly to indicate the game will never be updated any further.

There is evidence that in Super Mario World, Dry Bones were intended to be an undead form of red Koopa Troopas specifically. As the resulting behavior remained even after a redesign, it is possible Dry Bones are still meant to be undead red Koopa Troopas. Details in image.

In Super Mario 64, it is possible to be blown off the bridge in Snowman's Land in such a way that Mario's hat lands under the star in the ice structure. This will make the hat irretrievable without restarting the game as Mario will always touch the star before putting it back on.

In Super Mario 64, if Mario lands precisely on the edge of the floating island in Cool, Cool Mountain, he will teleport down to the level's death barrier. As Mario is immune to death while in his "recovering from snow" animation, he will first finish it before instantly dying.

In the Japanese/North American version of Super Mario Bros., Bloopers cannot affect Mario when he is standing on the seafloor. However, the European version modified the code to let them sink 4 pixels lower, so that Mario is no longer safe on the seafloor. Details in image.

In Super Mario Galaxy, penguins that are far away from the camera only blink with the eye that is turned towards Mario. If Mario is looking directly at them, they blink normally, but if Mario can only see one of their eyes, they wink with that eye instead.

On the unlockable Brutal difficulty in Mario Party 6, computer opponents may gain an "unyielding resolve" to make a decision. If the desired option cannot be taken, the opponent will not reconsider and instead keep attempting to choose it forever, forcing the game to be reset.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, whenever Mario jumps while under the effect of a Star, he somersaults instead. If the Star runs out while he is climbing a vine, he will continue somersaulting indefinitely as long as he is touching the vine.

In Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, certain features of the Wario's Gold Mine track appear to be built with a dangerous degree of negligence. As the game otherwise goes to great lengths to avoid these scenarios, it is possible this was done on purpose to show Wario's attitude towards safety.

The official Prima guide for Super Mario Galaxy claims there is no reward for collecting 120 Stars with Luigi (top left). However, there is one: the Grand Finale Galaxy is unlocked. This could prevent players from seeing all content by dissuading them from completing the game.

A 1999 promotional video by Nintendo of France contained a segment of low-quality Paper Mario footage using a very early build of the game. Some of Mario's sprites seen here show that the animations at that point in development were meant to be much more exaggerated.

In Super Mario 64 DS, if Yoshi eats a baby penguin, it will say it doesn't taste good (middle). However, the penguin has a second message in the code, calling Yoshi a monster that eats naughty kids (right); there is no known way to activate it in-game (shown here with hacks).

In Super Mario World, the Dino Rhinos do not attack; however, there are unused sprites of them spitting fire in the data (mockup on left). 26 years later, this is referenced in Paper Mario: Color Splash where Dino Rhinos finally are able to perform that attack (right).

In Super Mario Galaxy, there is a specific spot in the underwater cave in Beach Bowl Galaxy where Mario will clip into his own reflection in the surface of the water, resulting in this amalgam of two Mario models superimposed onto each other.

In Super Mario Maker 2, whenever Pom Pom takes damage, she briefly gains extra fingers on both hands (left and middle). This is likely due to her model being imported from Super Mario 3D World, where she has two hand variations, and those two being loaded simultaneously (right).

The Japanese official Super Mario 64 trading card for the Mother Penguin shows her in the middle of a blinking animation for an unknown reason, making her seem to have a bored or annoyed expression that she never actually displays in-game.

In Chapter 2-3 of Super Paper Mario, Mario must pay off a 1,000,000 Rubee debt. The intended solution is to take them from a safe; however, it is possible to earn them legitimately, which would at maximum speed take 9 hours, 33 minutes and 54 seconds. Calculation in image.
