Today HK's police chief took the opportunity to address Yuen Long District Council by publicly shaming a rape complainant & confirming the police are pursuing her arrest for 'lying', & claimed the police 'did nothing wrong' when a suspect died of negligence in custody. Sickening.

If the arrest of Joshua Wong proves one thing, it’s that the authorities can & will arrest you for anything. Arrested for illegal assembly & wearing a mask under the anti-mask law - today it’s illegal to NOT wear a mask. A-M law also currently under legal challenge by democrats. twitter.com/joshuawongcf/s…

Not only has IOC President Thomas Bach previously met with Peng Shuai’s alleged abuser Zhang Gaoli (張高麗), Zhang was *head of the leading group for Beijing 2022* & would’ve met extensively with IOC personnel incl. Bach for years. Huge conflict of interest — totally unmentioned. twitter.com/Athlete365/sta…

Reminder that newly-promoted British HK Police officer David Jordan headed up the Police Tactical Unit for the past year, which led the rapid-response to protests & put down pro-democracy demonstrators with sickening brutality. Utterly disgusting. thestandnews.com/english/david-…

With the HK national security law just days away, yesterday saw 53 arrests, incl. district councillors, the elderly, & a father in front of his child. Also reports high-profile democrats Joshua Wong & Jimmy Lai will be arrested on July 1st, *the first day the law takes effect*.

Today’s @appledaily_hk front page carries a letter appealing to U.S. President Donald Trump to intervene & save Hong Kong. Gives a sense of the desperation of the situation when a plea for help from the 🇺🇸 President appears on the front of the best selling newspaper in the city.

Primary organiser Power for Democracy (民主動力) have confirmed 412,478 ballots have been cast in HK’s pan-Democratic primary as of 16:00 HKT. With just under 5 hours until polls close, turnout is set to break 500,000. Lines look longer than yesterday, too.

HK’s biggest pro-🇨🇳 newspaper Oriental Daily (東方日報) has responded furiously to a CNN piece which (accurately) said OD’s founders the Ma brothers were drug dealers. Today’s front page shows a CNN missile being launched against them by rival pro-democracy media owner Jimmy Lai.

The Hong Kong Police Have Declared War on Journalists — Jack Hazlewood New @appledaily_hk piece looking at the changes to Police General Orders, which amount to a de facto police-imposed press accreditation system & are disastrous for press freedom in HK hk.appledaily.com/opinion/202009…

Awesome shots as ever from @StandNewsHK from tonight’s protest in central. Saw scenes of police brutality as we’ve come to expect, with a decent crowd size & pro-democracy tycoon Jerome Lau Ting-sing flashing ‘5 demands not one less’ hand gestures in one of his inimitable shirts.

Footage has emerged of the moment heroic protestors & bystanders apprehended a pro-Beijing knifeman who attempted to attack journalists & stabbed a man who prevented him from doing so. Going on the police’s past form there’s a good chance he won’t even face charges. Vid: Telegram twitter.com/lokinhei/statu…

Today’s @AppleDaily_HK leads with the triumph of young radical localists over more moderate democrats in the pro-democracy camp’s primary. Also covered is CE Carrie Lam’s claim last night that the primary could constitute subversion, a crime under the new National Security Law.

Now being widely reported across HK media that another lawyer hired to represent Kok Tsz-lun, one of the 12 Hongkongers detained in mainland China after attempting to flee to Taiwan, was forced to back out of the case on the orders of mainland authorities. hk.appledaily.com/news/20200927/…

UPDATE: The Lands Department has announced it’s found British HK Police Assistant Police Commissioner Rupert Dover has occupied government land unlawfully & built illegal structures in Sai Kung (!!). Barely any punishment, obviously. But still hilarious. news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/compon… twitter.com/JackHHazlewood…

BOMBSHELL - U.K. Home Secretary confirms the British government will make provision for a path to 🇬🇧 citizenship for BNO passport holders if Beijing proceeds with plans to railroad through draconian national security laws in HK I’m borderline weeping. Finally Britain acts twitter.com/pritipatel/sta…

Chinese state media reporter: HSBC ’highly likely’ to be put on China’s new Unreliable Entity List. HSBC & its executives publicly supported the National Security Law in the most craven & pathetic act of fawning. But you can never kowtow enough for the regime. It’s never enough. twitter.com/qingqingparis/…

Aaaaand right on cue, the HK Police disturb the peace again, on the anniversary of Tiananmen of all days, by having undercover police arrest peaceful demonstrators at a memorial event in Mong Kok. Pictures clearly show an unarmed older man being thrown to the ground. Disgusting. twitter.com/JackHHazlewood…

Now the HK Police have banned the June 4th vigil to commemorate the Tiananmen Square massacre, I can’t help but think of what the police will do if people attend. But violence or bloodshed on 6.4 (a seminal date in HK’s political calendar) would be a huge tactical error for them.

Big intervention: After Carrie Lam’s incendiary remarks that the separation of powers has never existed in HK (!), the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office of The State Council has explicitly stated it “agrees with CE Carrie Lam’s comments”; describes SoP as “westernised” & “wrong”.

Footage from TKO shows a PSHK reporter was violently thrown to the ground by HK Police officers at what had been an entirely peaceful protest in a mall. Rough-handed treatment like this achieves nothing & is just another case of galling unprofessionalism.

Breaking: The results of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy primary have just been released - only currently formatted as a spreadsheet in Chinese but young radical democrats have triumphed across Hong Kong, incl. Ventus Lau in NTE & Sunny Cheung in KW. Joshua Wong tops the poll in KE.

Brilliant by @MRJKilcoyne: “Let our people on the other side of the ocean know: as China dims the torch of freedom, that we keep it here lit for them – and that they have a home here” Britain cannot abandon Hong Kong. Give HKers the right to live here. telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/05/2…

Can’t believe @SkyNews let pro-Beijing stooge Alex Lo of the SCMP speak on the proposed national security laws in HK & “the violent protest movement”. 0:37 - “I think if you have lived through HK in the past 6 months...” Mate you write your bile from the safety of Canada. STFU.
124
Gruesome Stand News photos emerging of reporters in agony after being pepper sprayed by riot police, which occurs at virtually every protest now. The official HK Police press release claims officers "deployed the minimum necessary force to enforce the law" tonight. What a farce.

Breaking: Former legislators @ray_slowbeat (陳志全) & @ChuHoiDick (朱凱廸) have both been arrested just prior to 7AM in connection to the pair disrupting the passage of the National Anthem Bill in LegCo in June. They threw some bio-fertiliser in an attempt to stop proceedings.
