A young girl of school age was just cornered by riot police & proceeded to run away, before being viciously wrestled to the ground, kicked & pinned down by several police officers.
I wish I could say this isn’t normal in Hong Kong today, but it is.

More horrifying video emerging on Telegram of the pregnant woman who was pushed to the ground by the HK Police in Mong Kok tonight. The man in black trying to protect her is her husband. Excruciating just to watch.

Grainy photos are starting to emerge on Telegram purporting to show 19-year-old Tony Chung (鍾翰林), former convenor of HK pro-democracy group @studentlocalism being arrested by state security agents (de facto secret police) on suspicion of inciting secession. 1984 is here & now.

HK’s first mass march in months is starting to turn as police begin to lose restraint, firing pepper balls at the feet of journalists. The day has been largely incident-free so far, with a few dozen arrested. Vid: Telegram.

HK riot police officers just charged through the crowd & wrestled a man to the ground on Jardine Street, CWB. One of the officers grabs his neck during the take-down followed by other officers trampling on him.
Normal service has resumed. Vid: HSUSU

In CWB a small crowd of people were judged to have violated the national security law by using vulgar language toward police. Riot police used pepper spray at point blank range on people who were pinned up against a wall, on the ground & already in custody. Vid: CBC

The Hong Kong Police have issued a statement (see below) claiming this 12 year old girl buying crayons “fled immediately”, “looked suspicious”, & that the officers who viciously tackled, kicked & pinned her down used “the minimum force necessary”.
Watch & decide for yourself:

Further to the 2 young girls in school uniform being arrested by HK riot police earlier, video has emerged from the same incident of a boy, also in school uniform, having his head grappled & being shoved into the van.
These children constitute no threat & are already in custody.

Another view of the same incident, in which undercover police disguised as protestors drag a demonstrator by the legs, as other officers pepper spray a crowd of journalists. Plainclothes HK police officers regularly arrest protestors but rarely with this brutality. Vid: Telegram. twitter.com/rhokilpatrick/…

Thoroughly unsurprising to see one of the senior British officers in the Hong Kong Police at the centre of horrific acts of police brutality today as Superintendent John Carroll was seen commanding police raptors & liaison officers in Kowloon. These men must be held to account. twitter.com/JackHHazlewood…

Riot police pressed a man (apparently a bystander) against a tram stop and pulled at his clothes at the protest in central before arresting him. HK police marking the first anniversary of the protests as you would expect. Vid: HSUSU

It’s possible this video of the HK Police taking aim at a journalist with their water cannon will become one of the defining scenes of the #HongKongProtests.
The reporter was standing alone with no protestors nearby or even visible, yet the police aimed directly for their head.

In Pacific Place, two undercover police officers just aimed pepper spray at journalists & bystanders & threatened them when their identity was discovered, & continued as they left swiftly. Shows how the press & the public are treated with contempt by the HK Police. Vid: 凝政媒體

BREAKING: HK01 reports the NPC in Beijing will tonight propose a ‘Hong Kong version of the national security law’. Stresses this is *not* Article 23, but it may well be A23 in all but name. HK waiting on tenterhooks as the final nail in the coffin beckons.

This photo by a @StandNewsHK (立場) reporter is being extremely widely circulated - it shows the aftermath of a person being hit with a pepperball by riot police. SN report states the wound was so deep that bone was visible & police only allowed a single medic to give first aid.
