As Chairperson of @UHRC_UGANDA, Mariam Wangadya has gone from blaming the media for "tarnishing the image of security agencies" by reporting about their human rights violations to saying torture victim exaggerate their ordeal. Now she's trivialising abductions!

5 days later journalist @BahatiRemmy's relatives who were picked up are yet to be produced in court! Regime officials confirmed they 'have' them! The sham Uganda Human Rights Commission confirmed their detention. Why are they silent about their illegal detention beyond 48 hours?

Visited the Japan Embassy in Uganda to pay respects and deliver condolences to the people and government of Japan on the tragic loss of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. We continue to condemn the violence that led to the loss of this great leader. May his soul rest in peace.

Today, we visited the two homes of John Damulira, a 50 year old man who was abducted last year in November by the military. Mzee Damulira worked at Kisekka market. At the height of the abductions that rocked the nation last year, he was taken away by heavily armed military men.

You can hear the man crying and wailing, and imagine what they did to him. This is Uganda. The world must not look on while the rogue regime continues to torture and murder. Totally unacceptable!

Today, we continued our tradition of sharing Christmas packages with the families of our detained comrades, those who have been disappeared and those who have been killed over the years. This is the least we can do to try and ease the burden on the shoulders of these families.

We're following the developments in Busujju, Mityana District where a Woman's Day celebration organised by our MPs in the area has been violently disrupted by trigger-happy goons in security uniform.

As we arrived in Omoro yesterday, we received terrible news of the passing of two comrades Waiswa Denis (Iganga) and Yakubu Kiggundu (Kawempe) in a car accident. May their souls rest in peace. Praying for comfort for their families and all of us who worked with them.

That was after spending about 8 hours under interrogation. Their phones were checked and details of their communication taken. They were asked where they come from, what relationship they have with Bobi Wine, what plans they have going forward, why NUP is leading this effort, etc

How sad! When Zigy Wyne was murdered, they released a doctored footage. When Ritah was murdered, they claimed CCTVs weren't working. Now, a private entity has footage and they want to confiscate it and probably doctor it or destroy it. This is absolutely insane. #JusticeforTegu twitter.com/ntvuganda/stat…

We just returned from Soroti where we laid to rest our brother and comrade, Ejoku Elias. Elias was our mayoral flag bearer in Soroti. He has been on the NUP Mobilisation Committee for Soroti District and before his gruesome death, used to host most of our activities.

After being forcefully driven out of Terego District by the RDC, police & military, We drove for a whole 2hrs to Maracha to find accommodation only to find that all hotels have been ordered not to host us.

34 years in power. Ailing education sector. Sick health-care. Sickening poverty levels. Unemployment. State capture. Murders all over. Militarised state. Gross human rights violations. Nepotism. Misuse of power. This is the system Mr. Museveni calls progress and seeks to protect!

On this Easter Sunday, I hope you are having a restful and reflective day. The death and resurrection of Christ gives us reason to soldier on, knowing that after the present troubles and tribulations, there will be a day of rejoicing. May God bless you all. A joyous day!

Every once in a while, you hear Gen. Museveni, the chief priest of corruption talking about fighting corruption. Our nation is bleeding. This is why so many citizens are coming together to say ENOUGH. #WeAreRemovingADictator

I appeal to gov't to acknowledge that we have reached a point when we must have an honest conversation as a nation & find a solution to this crisis. No matter who we are & our political affiliations, no Ugandan should lose his or her life in this gruesome manner. #RIPAbiriga 3/3

Security agencies continue to hunt down pro-change social media users in Uganda. They're tortured & charged with offensive communication! On the other hand, the regime maintains thousands of fake accounts to sing its praise on social media like they did ahead of the 2021 polls!

Very delighted to pray with the faithful of God at Our Lady of Sorrows Cathedral, Kitovu in Masaka City. Very grateful for the spiritual nourishment. Hundreds of people waited outside church & energised us with so much love. There is nothing a people determined cannot achieve!

The Chairperson, Uganda Human Rights Commission now says she fears to convene meetings of the Commission because her juniors attend them with guns! Perhaps this explains the ridiculous statements she has been making of recent about victims of human rights violations. Perhaps it… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Yesterday, I had the honor of having dinner with @geordinhl the Mayor of Cape Town, @DavidMaynier the Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities; Western Cape government and other dignitaries. We discussed various issues of mutual interest.

Today I attended Parliament after some time, for the sole purpose of making our voice heard on the mobile money tax. The government has deliberately avoided a discussion on the social media tax! Majority of the NRM Members of Parliament voted to maintain the mobile money tax.

Says our Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, in total disregard for Article 208(2) of our Constitution which decrees that the army shall be non-partisan, national in character, patriotic, disciplined & subordinate to civilian authority. But #PeoplePower shall prevail

When injustice and abuse are not stopped as seeds, they grow into big trees and then everybody will be a victim. The longer there's inaction and no consequences for a dictatorship, the more emboldened it gets. The abduction and torture of two MPs in custody is evidence of that. twitter.com/ResistBureau/s…
