Museveni having been roundly defeated in the last election, now wants to take away the right of the people of Uganda to elect their President. Of course he plans to do this in order to impose his drunk son on us, well knowing that he can't even get 5% of a popular vote.

The people of Uganda must not underestimate the new scheme- this is how all the past schemes started, including removing term limits and age limit from the Constitution. But as they say, "What will kill a man begins as an appetite."

As children prepare to go back to school tomorrow, we've spent the day with children and parents of our comrades who are still missing, those in detention and those murdered over the past three years. We shared a meal, had a prayer and shared with them school requirements.

The children of the murdered include those of late Yasin Kawuma, Ritah Nabukenya, Dan Kyeyune, etc. Those still missing include those of John Damulira, Kibalama Johnbosco, Moses Kawenja, etc. Those in detention include those of Machete Yasin, Olivia Lutaaya, Kassim Migadde, etc.

I thanked the parents (and in some cases grandparents) for the great work they have consistently done in taking care of these children amidst very difficult circumstances. I implored the children to go back to school and work very hard to see that they make their parents proud.

After two weeks of incommunicado detention and torture, activist and author Kakwenza Rukirabashaija was secretly brought to court and charged with disturbing the peace of #DictatorMuseveni and his son. His lawyers denied access to him! The impunity!

Today 14th Jan, marks one year since Ugandans went to the polls. Many had to endure the sweltering heat of the sun as they waited for their turn to vote. With thousands of our people under detention, Museveni deployed guns, machine guns, mambas and all manner of weaponry. (1/5)

Then the kind of vote theft, not recorded anywhere before took place. Even then, despite all the rigging, Museveni realised he was headed for a resounding defeat. And so, aided by Byabakama, he usurped the will of the people of Uganda and announced his coup against the people.

Today reminds us of all the sacrifices made in the quest for democracy. It reminds us of the tens of thousands massacred in Luwero, fighting for freedom and democracy. It reminds us of our own duty as a generation to redeem this nation and say NEVER AGAIN to this humiliation.

Yet again, a small, unpopular, murderous, plundering clique was imposed on the people of Uganda, leaving them with no option but to evoke their inherent right to assert their will through all possible means. That effort is still on. We encourage every citizen to play their part.

Samuel Masereka (circled), NUP Registrar, Kasese District was picked up from Kasese in a drone Friday last week. Over a week, his whereabouts unknown. Not produced in any court. Suspected to be detained in a torture house in Mbuya. The abductions continue!
