I wish to state that this is an amateurish attempt by the UPDF to spin the unfortunate torture of a citizen by the army, which confirms that indeed the torture meted out on Mwesigwa and others like him is sanctioned by the UPDF and other security agencies.

This same person in his complaint to Uganda Human Rights Commission is on record saying he was abducted by armed security personnel and gravely tortured. He also made a report at Police stating that since he returned from torture chambers, unknown people had been following him.

The shameless, criminal regime at it again! Same old tricks. Same ridiculousness. Mwesigwa Eric has been complaining of being trailed ever since he spoke about his torture. Today, from an army barracks, they parade him to claim it's NUP that tortured him! What a bunch of thugs!

Ultimately, we shall have to put an end to this rampant misuse of power and abuse of citizens' rights. #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners #BringBackOurPeople #WeAreRemovingaDictator"

... and Nasiif Najja are now detained at the Central Police Station in Kampala. I commend the Speakers for highlighting the plight of political prisoners in Uganda. I also condemn the security forces' disproportionate use of force and illegal blocking of lawful protests.

Learnt of the violent arrest of Council Speakers from Kampala and Wakiso Districts during a peaceful protest outside Parliament against abduction and trial of opposition supporters in military Courts. Four of them including Justus Akampurira, Hamza Kasozi, Luba Charles...(1/3)

Today, Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad visited me at home in Magere. I welcomed him from the long period of illegal detention. I also got a call from Hon. Allan Sewanyana. Both comrades assured me that their commitment to our struggle for freedom and democracy still stands firm.

at such a critical time. We shall be rooting for them and supporting them all the way. Aluta continua! #PeoplePowerOurPower

We are indebted to the outgoing leadership under comrade Herman Ainebyona for the great role they played over the past few years to advance the cause, amidst great challenges. I am grateful to the new leaders under comrade Dr. Daniel Kawuma for accepting to take over leadership

Yesterday, the outgoing leadership of the @NUP_Ug USA Diaspora Chapter handed over office to the new leadership in Boston. I was represented by Secretary General @DavidLRubongoya who administered the Oath of Integrity to the new leadership team. I thank them for representing us.

Our agenda is much bigger! I also used the opportunity to emphasise unity and assure our detractors that we are not in any crisis, as Gen. Museveni and his sycophants like to portray us. Uganda will be free!

I am grateful to our mobilisation team for a job well done. I know that the regime will try to compromise them or intimidate them, but I tasked them to be firm. #PeoplePowerOurPower #BringBackOurPeople

Earlier today, we commissioned the National Unity Platform / #PeoplePower Kunga Mobilisation Committees at our new Headquarters at Kavule. I charged the comrades to go back to their respective districts and mobilise our people for the revolution against the military regime.

God speed Hon. Alice Alaso and your team. #PeoplePowerOurPower

... for now, we continue to use them as an opportunity to reach out to the masses and charge them for the mission at hand. Our support to Hon. Alaso is yet another indication that the @NUP_Ug is committed to the unity of the forces of change in word and deed. 2/3

Spent the day in Serere rallying support for our senior comrade and friend, Hon. Alice Alaso of ANT. We know that Gen. Museveni continues to vulgarise elections and rig them with impunity so as to make the people completely lose hope. 1/3

Later on our way from the burial, we passed through Iganga, Kayunga and other towns where we were given a warm and resounding reception by the residents. Happy to see our people still committed to the cause for change. People Power, Our Power! #WeAreRemovingaDictator

Spent much of my day in Iganga District where we laid to rest comrade Tony Bikumbi aka Tonny Houls aka Jajja Tony's father Mr. Bikumbi Edward. Praying for you my friend Tony Houls; may you have the strength to carry through this trying moment. May papa's soul rest in peace.

Received news of the abduction of comrades Kagimu Fred and Ssebunya Yasin that occurred in Kiwoko Town Council, Nakaseke District yesterday as we marked the Janani Luwum day. It is said that gun-wielding men in civilian attire raided their homes at about 02:00 AM...

They simply want better. Mwebale muno, abaana ba Bunyoro. You are indeed grandsons and granddaughters of Kabalega the Great.

It is clear that this generation is tired of oppression and exploitation. I have no doubt that this very generation will liberate this land and build a better country for the generations to come.

From Kikuube, we passed through Hoima City and the other towns on the way. The show of solidarity and support was overwhelming and reassuring!

We can only bring an end to this indignity by putting an end to the very regime that has brought so much suffering to so many people.
