With great sorrow, I've learnt of the untimely passing of our senior comrade and brother, Hon. Toolit Simon Akecha this afternoon at St. Mary's Lacor Hospital in Gulu. He carried the @NUP_Ug flag in the recent by-election in Omoro. He's also been our Acting Head of Policy.

Look who's talking... The irony!

A very happy birthday comrade brother MP @ZaakeFrancis. May your sacrifice never go in vain and may you live to see a free Uganda. #PeoplePowerOurPower

Pleased to spend some time with the newly elected Guild President of Kyambogo University, Comrade Wafula Edrine Koholo and his team. We had an interesting conversation about the historical mission of this generation.

The Constitutional Court's ruling on "Offensive Communication" comes as a timely respite for the several youth presently in detention or on trial for their anti-regime views.

I especially thanked the Catholic Church for always standing on the side of the truth. Through clerics like the late Fr. Anatoli, the Catholic Church has distinguished itself as the vanguard of those suffering oppression. May Rev. Fr. Bro. Anatoli's soul rest in peace.

I've attended the burial ceremony of Rev. Fr. Bro. Anatoli Wasswa in Kyotera — Masaka who recently died aged 97. I paid tribute to his remaining true to and honouring our African tradition — despite being a religious leader — which many Africans mistake for witchcraft.

Hoping you're having a good Sunday comrades.

Today I celebrate a brother, a friend and a comrade. May you have a reflective and positive day. God has already used you to bless our country, am sure he's still going to use you for great things. Happy birthday kablaza @DavidLRubongoya 👊🏾

Congratulations Cde. Wafula Edrine upon being elected @kyambogou Guild President. May you have the courage, the will, and the clarity of purpose to fulfil your promises to the students who have entrusted you with their vote. Go and serve, my brother.

Unsurprisingly, this is becoming a 'normal' occurrence. That's what happens when there's no rule of law.

Distressing reports of a UPDF soldier in Somalia shooting dead 3 colleagues. My sympathies to the fallen soldiers' families. Hope shooter faces due process, but also that concerns of mistreatment and unpaid soldiers in Somalia are addressed to prevent future tragedies.

Happy new year, friends and comrades.

Saddened by the death of Pope Benedict XVI. His reign as leader of the Catholic Church touched the lives of countless people around the world and left behind a legacy of service, piety and devotion. I send condolences to the Church and all Catholics. May his soul rest in peace.

We reminded ourselves of the huge task on our shoulders and the expectations of the people of Uganda in our leadership.

We used the occasion to thank God for the year ending and reflect on what has gone well and what hasn't. I appreciated many of the leaders for the great work they have done to keep the candle burning, and tasked them to double or even triple these efforts in the next year.

On Thursday evening, @BarbieItungoK and I hosted several leaders of @NUP_Ug at an end of year reception at our home in Magere. The leaders included our NEC Members, Members of Parliament, District Chairpersons, Mayors, the KCCA Speaker and our Secretariat staff.

Late last night in hospital, we checked on our brother Hamiddu Muyoodi who was brutally beaten by regime enforcers. They hit him several times with a baton on the head causing him to bleed. They also hit his abdomen. The criminals will sure pay for these crimes against humanity!

Police says that they meted out violence on us today because we did not first seek its permission before we held prayers! What, then, is the essence of our national motto, "For God and My Country"?

2 Corinthians 4:8-10 "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed."

You can vividly hear and watch some of the people in attendance gleefully cheering and clapping at the brutality meted on their colleagues! That's how twisted our country has become!

We must understand that oppression knows no elite!

Scenes today as military police invaded the election of new Committee members of the @Makerere Convocation — an association of alumni and current staff. Elite or un-educated, none of us is safe until we're all safe! Any Vice Chancellor worth their salt would be resigning by now!
