It feels like cheating to beat Arceus this way in the Eternal Battle Reverie for the Trainer Card mark at a streak of 50. Ice Shard never lets it move at all.

Multiple setups will work -- an easy one is Fake Out + Sheer Cold as long as the opponent does not move before you. The fixed RNG seed is why moves with under 91% accuracy always miss on the first turn, as was first noticed here: reddit.com/r/VGC/comments…

Outbreaks can only have one alpha Pokémon spawned at a time. As long as the alpha remains on the field, no more alphas will be spawned. It is advantageous to catch/KO random alphas so more can spawn. This applies to other spawners as well. Video: ignoring vs catching the alpha.

The Cianwood anti-softlock Tentacool can be shiny!

I managed to change this shiny Murkrow (night spawn) into a shiny Glameow (day spawn). I found it at night, saved far away from it, rebooted the game, rested until day, then went back to the Pokémon. Repeating the process for day to night changed it back into Murkrow!

Interestingly, in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Shiinotic is considered a Mythical and Marshadow is not. This error is probably due to the similarity of the Japanese names (マシェード / マーシャドー) and the internal species names (MASHEEDO / MAASYADOO)!

It seems that somewhere between BDSP v 1.0.0 and 1.1.2, Poké Radar chain breaking was rewritten and is apparently worse. Now, you only get a 10% bonus if you go after the farthest tiles (4 away) and capture the Pokémon. It doesn't change the optimal hunting method at least.

In Pokémon Scarlet/Violet v1.0.0, Sylveon mistakenly has the same flag as Arceus and Silvally that prevents it from having its type changed. You can see that moves such as Soak fail. This error was fixed in version 1.0.1.

Neat, Teensy Power and Humungo Power greatly increase a Pokémon's chance to qualify for Mini Mark and Jumbo Mark! Here's a table with all the details in fine print underneath.

A lot of people are still asking questions for how I'm hunting wild shiny Authentic Sinistea in Old Cemetery with the last KO method, so I made this shareable graphic to explain how it works. Hopefully it's more understandable!

Hilariously, you can legitimately get the National Dex and the Poké Radar with 1 badge. The only requirements are to get to Eterna City and to have all Pokémon viewed in the Sinnoh Dex! Ty to @QStheSLAYER for bringing this up and @mattyoukhana_ for looking into the script.

Pokemon GO to Home transfer gives Kanto Ninetales moves to Alola Ninetales. Looks like they forgot about alternate forms!

Today, I'll talk about all the Meal Powers in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet! I've touched on various Meal Powers already; this will serve as a megathread for all the information, old and new. I had to return to SWSH to complete this research, and ended up learning something new.

Let's put this question/rumor to rest. In this video, Cresselia's entry doesn't display the shiny form in Dex even though the roaming Cresselia is shiny. I expect Mesprit to work the same way. No, you can't use the Dex to check that it's shiny without encountering it.

There's a lot of superstition about what BDSP Poké Radar considers a grass patch 4 away. As long as you walk 4 steps in any direction, it counts. It takes the longest distance in any direction horizontally or vertically. All the tiles in each square count for the same distance.

By the way, here is a table of all the Sandwich ingredients and their modifiers for the Sandwich Powers! Hope this helps you all find good recipes. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Here are the rates of Picnic egg generation in Scarlet/Violet. The rates improve significantly with any Egg Power, and are slightly decreased due to checks for hidden items in the basket (even if none are on the field). Read on for more details into this process and the math.

Most of my research in SWSH was because I wanted a shiny Antique Sinistea in Glimwood Tangle. Turns out there isn't a way to boost it past 1%, and the best shiny rate is 1/1365.67 with Shiny Charm. Finally, after 438,031 automated encounters over 2 years, this chapter is closed.
44
I'd like to discuss the category of encounters we call "fixed symbol encounters" in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet. They have behavior that is distinct from regular wild encounters, which has implications for shiny hunters. (Btw, these Squawkabilly are shiny-locked fixed symbols!)
45
Tables of shiny rates for all the SWSH encounter types I could think of outside of eggs, which are well-documented already. Remember that Brilliant rate maxes out at 100 KOs. You can decide if you want to KO more to max out shiny rate.

Since everyone is keeping an eye on the weather while waiting for distortions, here's your weather forecast!

Some days, you just can't win. #PokemonSwordShield #NintendoSwitch

Tera Raids are entirely generated with cryptosecure PRNG, and future raids can't be predicted based on today's raids. This means the date skip shiny raid manipulation from SWSH is not in Scarlet/Violet. However, rewards are fixed, so share good raid rewards with your friends!

Here are the new Ribbons and Marks available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. We don't know how to get all of them yet! The original weather (for available weathers), time, and Rare/Uncommon Marks from SWSH are in the game as well. Still no word on Destiny Mark...

BDSP's Move Reminder services are free after you give him 10 Heart Scales. I guess this is a way to be somewhat faithful to the originals while still being a QoL improvement since SWSH had free relearn services.
