Some days, you just can't win. #PokemonSwordShield #NintendoSwitch

The Cianwood anti-softlock Tentacool can be shiny!

How to shiny hunt the Swords: 1) Encounter the Pokemon. 2) Run away. 3) Go into camp and back out. 4) Sword should respawn on top of you! twitter.com/mdashswitchacc…

Pokemon GO to Home transfer gives Kanto Ninetales moves to Alola Ninetales. Looks like they forgot about alternate forms!

A lot of people are still asking questions for how I'm hunting wild shiny Authentic Sinistea in Old Cemetery with the last KO method, so I made this shareable graphic to explain how it works. Hopefully it's more understandable!

There's been some interest in my recent research over the last 2-3 months into Brilliant Pokémon and chain fishing in Sword/Shield, so I'll share my findings in greater detail here. It's long and math/data heavy, so skip to the end of the thread if you only want the summary.

Tables of shiny rates for all the SWSH encounter types I could think of outside of eggs, which are well-documented already. Remember that Brilliant rate maxes out at 100 KOs. You can decide if you want to KO more to max out shiny rate.
9
BDSP's Move Reminder services are free after you give him 10 Heart Scales. I guess this is a way to be somewhat faithful to the originals while still being a QoL improvement since SWSH had free relearn services.

Here are all the BDSP v1.1.1 shiny rates on one page in the same format as my SWSH table. See the notes for common "what about" questions. It's a good day if you're a full-odds shiny hunter.

Let's put this question/rumor to rest. In this video, Cresselia's entry doesn't display the shiny form in Dex even though the roaming Cresselia is shiny. I expect Mesprit to work the same way. No, you can't use the Dex to check that it's shiny without encountering it.

It seems that somewhere between BDSP v 1.0.0 and 1.1.2, Poké Radar chain breaking was rewritten and is apparently worse. Now, you only get a 10% bonus if you go after the farthest tiles (4 away) and capture the Pokémon. It doesn't change the optimal hunting method at least.
13
There's a lot of superstition about what BDSP Poké Radar considers a grass patch 4 away. As long as you walk 4 steps in any direction, it counts. It takes the longest distance in any direction horizontally or vertically. All the tiles in each square count for the same distance.
14
I'm not much of a shiny hunter, but I think it's fun to RNG abuse BDSP. I got shiny Starly and shiny Piplup in the same battle! It does show the trainer before the battle, but the Starly is 16/26/25/31/5/23... wonder what triggers it if it's not 2 IV.
15
Hilariously, you can legitimately get the National Dex and the Poké Radar with 1 badge. The only requirements are to get to Eterna City and to have all Pokémon viewed in the Sinnoh Dex! Ty to @QStheSLAYER for bringing this up and @mattyoukhana_ for looking into the script.
16
I told Cheryl we can't leave Eterna Forest until both Pokémon were shiny, and finally managed to RNG abuse this today. I'm currently in the middle of a discussion over which one has to die, because if Wurmple dies, we'll never know what it would have turned into.

Shiny hunters will enjoy Pokémon Legends: Arceus! Along with the Shiny Charm, many new mechanics can further improve your chances of finding a shiny from the base 1/4096 rate. Here are your shiny rates as of version 1.0.1.
18
Pokémon Legends: Arceus pretty much saves all the spawns in the overworld when you're in a map. This means that if you find a shiny and die, you can go back to it and it will still be there!
19
I managed to change this shiny Murkrow (night spawn) into a shiny Glameow (day spawn). I found it at night, saved far away from it, rebooted the game, rested until day, then went back to the Pokémon. Repeating the process for day to night changed it back into Murkrow!

There is a secret ribbon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the Pioneer Ribbon! We initially saw it in BDSP, but it wasn't available yet. The flag for the Pioneer Ribbon is added by preparing a Pokémon for a photo. It isn't possible to see it in PLA. Maybe when transfers to HOME open!

There's a lot of superstition about distortions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. We looked at them in-depth and here's how they work. Have fun waiting!

I looked into LGPE's chain combo mechanism. It turns out the Catch Combo bonus only applies once to the next spawn of the chained species after one is captured.
23
You can push a wild Pokémon in circles around yours during a battle, so I spent yesterday evening taking this outbreak shiny Zoroark all the way to Avalugg's Legacy and catching it with that met location. I wonder how far you can go. Can Zoroark be dunked in the Hot Springs?

Outbreaks can only have one alpha Pokémon spawned at a time. As long as the alpha remains on the field, no more alphas will be spawned. It is advantageous to catch/KO random alphas so more can spawn. This applies to other spawners as well. Video: ignoring vs catching the alpha.

Small detail that explains people waiting longer than 40 minutes for distortions... If the distortion appear timer runs out while the weather is Intense Sun, Snowstorm, or Thunderstorm, the game skips the distortion and schedules a new distortion in 5, 10, 15, 25, or 40 minutes.
