The Gold SUMO vs. Mahiroo Squad battle (ep #43) is a really great highlight moment for Harry Ord. The storyboard emphasizes all the camera movements, and Tomino advised animator Masami Goto to pay attention to the pauses in battle for dramatic effect.

There is much to suggest that Tomino approves of G Gundam. At the 1998 Gundam Big Bang Declaration he declared that his new project would "affirm" all Gundam series thus far—"including G Gundam"—and as such it's the only AU title that is unambiguously referenced in Turn A.

I scanned the poster illustrated by Atsushi Shigeta that came with the Brain Powerd Blu-ray box.

Princess Zelda sketch & drawing by Akira Yasuda (Akiman) from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. A "princess among princesses", he drew this in 2007 while hooked on the game.

Many fans around the world observe 9/9 as an unofficial "Turn A Day", in honor of the titular Gundam's System-∀99 model designation. It's a fine time and opportunity to celebrate everything Turn A Gundam. Happy Turn A Day! #ターンエーの日

Turn A Gundam #37 features animation by Kenichi Yoshida, an animator and illustrator well-known for his unique style and character designs (Eureka 7, G-Reco, etc.). Here's a sample of some of his work; smooth movement and attention to character weightlessness.

Turn A Gundam illustration by Kenichi Yoshida, who's well-known for his unique animation style and character designs. The Tomino-Akiman-Yoshida partnership has its roots in Turn A and they would go on to collaborate on King Gainer and G-Reco.

Turn A Gundam's epilogue was a massive undertaking for the staff. They had to make sure the animation cuts matched each phrase of music, and that all the major characters were addressed. Many scenes were shifted around, and initially it was going to feature more voiced lines.

Gundam fans who don't engage much with mecha/sci-fi media outside of Gundam are really missing out. It isn't exactly an insular franchise (nothing really is), and it's always good to expand one's horizons. There's a lot of rich and relevant contextual history to experience!

This is one of my favorite quotes in anime, and there's a lot to unpack here if one views Corin's words as Tomino's own inner monologue. He wanted Turn A Gundam to be a new and accessible hit, and despite its poor TV ratings he did his best not to succumb to the criticism.

This is from Akiman's prequel manga Turn A Gundam: Wind of the Moon. You can see the Turn A along with mass produced types called "Turn B GM". twitter.com/akiman7/status…

I've talked about this before, but one of my favorite Tomino storyboarding techniques is when a group crowds around to talk and the camera pans & shifts between individual characters. It's very immersive and creates a sense of believability in setting the scene.
