Can't get over the ferocity with which Tomino delivers this line.

This scene was so well done. The panic and anxiety are in full display here. #G_Witch

Turn A Gundam's first episode was applauded by many industry people. Sunrise president Takayuki Yoshii said it gave him chills he hadn't felt since My Neighbor Totoro. Harutoshi Fukui (who'd later pen Gundam Unicorn) sent Director Tomino a fax, unable to contain his excitement.

The perennial question.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November. Happy 81st birthday to none other than Yoshiyuki Tomino! Here are photos of him making the "∀" symbol. #富野由悠季生誕祭

Who's the mysterious voice behind the Turn A Gundam OP title call? I still don't have a name, but I recently got some insight. Apparently they held auditions for this minor role, and the person selected was not a professional. Tomino himself reviewed the audition tapes.

I made a "Turn A Turn" storyboard v. animation side-by-side comparison video. (storyboard by Tomino)

Syd Mead's analysis and breakdown of the original Gundam and the Gundam X. Mead studied Kunio Okawara's Gundam design career in detail and referenced his work countless times when designing his own mobile suits. He had a lot of respect for Okawara's legacy.

Just a reminder—there is nothing to suggest that Loran Cehack was originally intended to be a girl. Nothing in Ring of Gundam nor later draft documents. It is simply a fandom myth with no basis in reality. His earliest designs are even more "masculine" in nature. [1/6]

It's Turn A Gundam's 23rd anniversary! Here's one of my favorite illustrations by Akiman—a promotional poster for the Japanese DVD Memorial Box releases. #ターンエーガンダム

When Syd Mead accepted the role of mecha designer for Turn A Gundam, he was sent a catalog of previous Gundam designs to study as references. He was particularly fond of the Wing Zero EW and praised its majestic wings.

Without a doubt the best plan ever.

Corin Nander recalls the Gundam from his past—it's the Wing Zero! Director Tomino wasn't very familiar with Gundam Wing so he didn't initially realize that it was added in by staff, but he's happy with the end result. It fit the thematic framework of encompassing all Gundams.

There is much to suggest that Tomino approves of G Gundam. At the 1998 Gundam Big Bang Declaration he declared that his new project would "affirm" all Gundam series thus far—"including G Gundam"—and as such it's the only AU title that is unambiguously referenced in Turn A.
