A powerful piece from my friend @joshrogin on why we should help Hong Kong exiled democratic activists. @SunnyCheungky @jooeysiiu @hkdc_us @hk_watch // Their struggle could last decades. We must show them they are not fighting alone.// #StandwithHongKong washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/…

The upcoming voting for legislators in Hong Kong is a “selection.” Only ~20% of the seats are popularly contested and candidates were vetted by political police. Figures representing people have no hope of running. We should boycott the SELECTION— asking it is ILLEGAL in HK now

Friends in #NA: “#Freedom” is out now. Reflecting on my #SummitforDemocracy remark, it's surely a timely read. The story of Hong Kong is narrated through my life. It is a touching, warm, and insightful touch on why we should protect freedom and democracy. bit.ly/Freedom-Book

//China wants its authoritarian model to spread around the world, but those Chinese voices for democracy show how precious self-government is and how people are willing to fight for it even at great personal risk. // Who’s Afraid of Nathan Law? China wsj.com/articles/whos-…

#SummitForDemocracy Intersession Remark: We must leverage all we have to ensure that democracy’s revival is our top priority. Dedicate this speech to all my friends in Hong Kong. @POTUS

It's a passionate debate. If you are still wondering whether we should treat China (under CCP's control) as an adversary or a partner, please listen to it. @intelligence2 Debate: It’s Time to Treat China Like an Adversary not a Partner youtu.be/OVJrtzbK4zE via @YouTube

3 things Mr Hu needs to do: 1. Improve his Photoshop skills 2. Learn the definition of democracy 3. Get a closer grip on reality So low.

“It’s a sad and terrible reality but I don’t think it surprises anyone given how the Chinese regime sees journalists as an enemy and trouble-makers. “Fundamentally the Chinese regime wants the media to be its loudspeaker and not hold them accountable.” inews.co.uk/news/world/chi…

//#Freedom introduces concepts like civil resistance, democracy, and the rule of law through the lens of real world experience. … Law offers the perspective of somebody who has actually lived through it. This looks like a great read for anybody looking for inspiration.// twitter.com/DemParadox/sta…

I was again named by the HK govt top officials, including SS Chris Tang and Commissioner of Police, that my remark in #SummitForDemocracy violates the NSL and now am a “Class A wanted criminal.” Campaigning for human rights is “secession” and “subversion” by Beijing’s definition.

See you all at @ColbyCollege with @GoldfarbCenter tonight. Live stream for tonight's event at 7PM ET: colby.edu/livestream/ But I would love to see students attend in person! (P.S.: This is one of the best event posters I've seen. The designer is talented.)

Media should stop directly quoting the Chinese govt's self-claim of "another version of democracy." China under CCP control is a one-party dictatorship. No accountability, no rule of law, no opposition voice, and no election to its leadership. It is NOT a democracy.

Been pushing a diplomatic boycott for so long -- now finally we've got some results. Now, the other democratic countries should do the same. #NoBeijing2022 twitter.com/jooeysiiu/stat…

From a student protest leader, the youngest elected legislator in Hong Kong, to a political prisoner and exiled activist … these all happened in my 20s. And this is the story I want to share. #Freedom is available in the US & Canada on 7th Dec. bit.ly/Freedom-Book

I am very honored to announce that I am invited by @POTUS to deliver a remark in The Summit for Democracy on 10th Dec. The remark serves as a bridge between sessions on "protecting human rights" and "defending against authoritarianism." The voice of Hong Kong will be heard.

My deepest gratitude to @GretaThunberg for her hand-writing letter to my friend @joshuawongcf, who has been jailed for over a year. We still don’t know when activists like Joshua can leave jail. “You are a big hero, we are with you always." Thanks @daeseon_lee for his effort.

Please support @HKUC_UK to grow Hong Kong's culture and community-building work in the UK. HKUC is a non-profit regeistered CIC that helps Hongkongers to integrate and settle. It's an exciting initiative with a group of very talented civil society leaders. twitter.com/HKUC_UK/status…

It's hypocritical to counter "anti-Asian hate" but defend China's human rights record. Millions of Uyghurs are suffering in concertion camps now. They can only get away from it by equating "criticizing China" to "advancing US imperialism." I can't even explain how lame it is. twitter.com/Fio_edwards/st…

8. We should not tolerate these malign forces in our society. I hereby urge the UK govt to investigate all the organizers for traces of infiltration orchastrated by CCP. Meanwhile, all the pro-Beijing attackers should be apprehended and brought to justice.

7. Yesterday, there was a crowd of pro-Beijing thugs ferociously attacked Hongkongers who countered their propaganda campaign in Chinatown. This has shown how the long arm of the Chinese Communist Party is, in effect, trying to erode our democratic tradition to silence dissent.
