Extremely rare 1993 "Cursed King of Pipe Land" plushie from Japan. In the Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB3, the king of Pipe Land is transformed into a Yoshi. As he is only seen for a few seconds, this is one of the most obscure characters receiving official merchandise.

Super Mario 64's original release featured an asymmetrical M emblem on Mario's hat, the only instance of this in a 3D Mario game. Now, with the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, the emblem was retroactively changed to be symmetrical, equalizing its appearance across all games.

In Super Paper Mario, it is possible to "bully" Mr. L by stealing his drinks. When his health is low, Mr. L attempts to restore it with a Shroom Shake. By using Thoreau, Mario can grab the Shroom Shake out of Mr. L's hands and add it to his own inventory.

Development files for Super Mario World contain graphics for the "block dancer", a simplistic egg-like creature that would dance on a row of blocks. Nothing else is known about it, as it appears only a single time in a file from July 12, 1990 and is never seen again.

The Koopa Bros. from Paper Mario are a clear reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, however, in most versions it is limited to their visual design. The German version takes it further and gives them names that parody the TMNT: Citronello, Melanzano, Pomodoro and Asparago.
